Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser (The Star Wars Hotel at Walt Disney World)

Walt Disney World’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2022. While we don’t have an exact opening date at this time, there are plenty of new details to discuss.

In case you missed it, we published another article earlier covering pricing details for the Star Wars: Galactic Cruiser. In this review, we’ll cover everything we know to date about this entire new resort experience.

For starters, this is not your typical Walt Disney World Resort. Instead, the Galactic Cruiser will be a two-night, all-inclusive, and completely immersive experience.

Per Disney, upon arrival for your Star Wars adventure, “guests will enter a Launch Pod, jump to Hyperspace, and rendezvous with the Halcyon Starcruiser.”

The Halcyon Starcruiser (think glamorous cruise ship, except outer space) is where you’ll spend the majority of the next two days. The lobby of the vessel, I mean Atrium, is said to be a welcoming place for fellow guests and crew.

On the Starcruiser’s bridge, guests will be able to try out their navigational skills with the help of crew members.  You might even participate in learning how to wield a lightsaber (here) or look out into space from your own individual passenger cabin!

Not only that, you’ll be treated to a planet excursion on the second day of your trip to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios. Admission to Hollywood Studios for that specific day is included in the price of the package.

Let’s take a look at how your time spent at the Star Wars: Galactic Cruiser will be broken down.

Next, let’s take a look at what the scheduled meal periods have in store for us.

Dining on the Star Wars: Galactic Cruiser

The meals listed in the itinerary are included during your two-night stay in this Star Wars hotel of sorts. All meals provided on the Cruiser will be held in the Crown of Corellia dining room. This will be a large dining hall providing counter service options during breakfast.

In the evening, the Crown of Corellia will transition to something more formal, providing a multi-course menu. Expect both out-of-this-galaxy menu items along with familiar fare.

Guests wanting an enhanced dinner experience can upgrade (at an additional cost) to join the Captain’s table. The Captain’s table will be placed in the center of the dining room. Those who eat there will enjoy extra courses, including the Captain’s favorite items.

Both dining experiences in the evenings are sure to be extra-terrestrial. The first evening you’ll join in on a table-service supper club. A galactic superstar will make an appearance offering a musical performance. Throughout the meal, you can get to know the crew and other passengers aboard the Cruiser.

I mean, haven’t you always wished that your shrimp cocktail was blue with a side of liquid nitrogen? It’s definitely the most unique shrimp dinner I’ve ever seen.

On the second evening, you’ll enjoy a special dining experience called, The Taste Around the Galaxy. This meal is inspired by “geography and environments of iconic destination planets throughout the galaxy.” It will be made up of appetizers for the table, a choice of an entree, and a specialty plated dessert.

Both dinner services will offer two separate seatings. You can request a specific time when making the initial reservation. (Disney notes special requests will be based upon availability.)

As noted above, breakfast will consist of counter-service fare in the Crown of Corellia dining room. Breakfast will be held both days on the Galactic Cruiser. You can expect a variety of hot plates, cold plates, and beverages, including fresh-brewed coffee, and there might even be a blue milk appearance.

Lunch will be held in Galaxy’s Edge on the second day. Per Disney, guests can opt to have lunch at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo or other select locations at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Those select locations are not listed at this time. I sure hope it includes a Ronto Wrap!

A secondary lunch will be available in the Crown of Corellia dining room for those who want to return to the Galactic Cruiser midday. That lunch will consist of small bites, sandwiches, soups, flatbreads, salads, and sweet items.

For those of you hoping for a before or after-dinner cocktail, you can enjoy a visit to the Sublight Lounge. By the look of things, you might even run into a charming smuggler. That would be my luck.

Speaking of Smugglers, it is also anticipated that a variety of characters (new and old) will be dwelling among you during your voyage. For example, you might run into the captain of the Starcruiser, a mechanic, and don’t forget the galactic superstar at dinner!

Now that you’re thinking, this is a pretty cool cruise ship that’s on land, pretending to be in space, let’s talk about what you’re gonna wear!

What to Wear on the Star Wars Galactic Cruiser

If you’re gonna plan a stay here, you might as well pick up a few Jedi robes, right? For most of us, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Probably.

Image Disney

I’m sure there are a few DVC members out there hoping that Disney will add a ship to the fleet in the future and make it a yearly thing. I would imagine the going rate would probably be 25,000 points or something for a yearly stay (2 nights). And they’d have to make the credits only applicable to this resort. (I’m only joking.)

Anyway, guests are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Star Wars outfits. However, regular clothes are perfectly acceptable. If you do decide to dress up, make sure you save your finest costumes for the end of the cruise celebration gala.

For those who want to wear official Star Wars apparel, options will be available to order in advance on shopDisney. Or you can purchase pieces on the ship.
