Enjoy a Movie Under the Stars and Nightly Campfire at Disney’s Coronado Springs

It’s often the little things in life that we enjoy the most. Those little things at Disney’s Coronado Springs and Gran Destino Tower include the Movie Under the Stars program and a campfire. Both are fun and free recreational activities designed with the guest in mind.
Now, I get it. You’re at Disney and plan to pack it in at the parks. We all do. As with life, however, the best-laid plans often go awry. It’s likely that at some point you’ll call it a day and head back to the resort early. When that day comes, why not hang out at the pool and roast a couple of marshmallows? When it gets dark, you can enjoy a leisurely walk to Gran Destino Tower, settle on the lawn, and watch the evening movie. Not only will you have the opportunity to take a break from the busy park pace, but you’ll feel rested and relaxed when it’s time to get up early the next morning.

The Nightly Campfire
Each evening, recreational cast members light up the fire pit at the Dig Site and provide guests with complimentary marshmallows on a stick to toast to their desired perfection. S’mores kits are also available for purchase. Here are a few photos from our last marshmallow roast at the resort.

Movies Under the Stars
For a list of the movies, you’ll want to take a photo of the resort’s recreation calendar. The calendar used to change monthly, but as of late, we’ve seen it extended for a couple of months at a time. My best advice is to take a photo of it upon arrival. That way, if you’re tired and decide to head back to the resort early one evening, you can reference it to see if and when a movie is playing. Here is an example of a calendar to give you an idea of what to expect. It’s almost always posted around the lobby, and I’ve always found them at the bus stops at Coronado Springs. (The Movie Under the Stars listing is in the bottom left-hand corner.)
*Note that the movie was replaced by a glow party on Sundays and a pool deck party on Tuesdays for this particular example. This is why it’s important to check the calendar upon arrival.

Final Thoughts
We love to participate in both the campfire and Movies Under the Stars at the Disney Resorts. If you have the time or need a break, we can’t recommend this type of activity enough. Life is busy, and so are Disney World vacations. It’s like a breath of fresh air to sit outside and enjoy a heart-warming Disney classic film under the stars!
