Review: Brunch at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ at Disney Springs
During our last stay at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, I found myself visiting Disney Springs a little more often than I expected. One morning, my friend Jill and I walked over to the venue to enjoy brunch at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’. I’ll be honest. I go through spurts where I visit Disney Springs fairly regularly. Then I go through periods where I rarely visit at all. Our last actual stay at Saratoga Springs was back in 2021. So it had been a while since I’d spent more than a couple of hours at the resort in one setting. Over the course of this 5-day, 4-night stay, I walked over to Disney Springs three different times. So when Jill suggested having brunch at Homecomin’, I was on board.
We walked from our room at The Paddock to the Marketplace entrance of Disney Springs. From there, we headed to Town Center and were able to get an immediate walk-up when we arrived a few minutes after 9:00 a.m. on a Sunday. For reference, Homecomin’ only serves brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Upon being seated, we were presented with a Rise & Shine brunch and cocktail menu along with a regular menu.

Jill ordered the Florida Crush, which is described as Tito’s Handmade Vodka, muddled orange and strawberries, a splash of fresh-squeezed orange juice, and agave syrup. She really enjoyed the drink and described it as refreshing. I went with a coffee and soda.

When I think of Homecomin’, I immediately have visions of three Thigh High Chicken Biscuits dancing in my head. But thinking about brunch, I also wanted biscuits and gravy. The problem is that I didn’t want to order two sizable meals. Jill was the same way. She’d eaten at Homecomin’s several times before as well. Her main craving was their pimento cheese and an order of eggs over easy.
Thankfully, our server came up with a solution. So Jill ordered the Biscuits and Gravy, which comes with two open-faced cheddar drop biscuits that are smothered with sawmill gravy and two eggs cooked to order. Our server threw in a side of pimento cheese to sweeten the pot. (He also brought a small sample of the grits because she had never tried them.)

Then, I ordered the Thigh High Chicken Biscuits from the starters section of the regular menu. This item is described as three biscuits topped with Chef Art’s famous fried chicken thighs and B&B pickles. The biscuits come drizzled with hot honey, but I always order the honey on the side.

This worked out really well because Jill traded me one biscuit and gravy for one chicken biscuit. We also had a ton of food to eat without ordering extras. In fact, we had so much food that we both brought leftovers back to our unit. I enjoyed mine for dinner later that evening, which ultimately saved me from buying another meal.

As far as thoughts on the food, we were happy with everything we ordered. I rarely order the same thing twice, but Homecomin’ is one of the few places where I do. I have had those chicken biscuits 3 or 4 times in the past couple of years. I love them, and I always have at least one left to enjoy later. Their fried chicken is delicious, and the biscuits are soft with hints of butter and cheese. Jill also went on and on about the pimento cheese. I am not a fan of pimento cheese, so unfortunately, I didn’t try it.
The biscuits and gravy were also tasty, and something I would order again. I’ve had Bradley’s grits on a previous visit, and while I wouldn’t mind trying them again, a word of warning. They are exceptionally rich. I have never had heartburn/indigestion before, but I did after eating them a few years back. I’m sure they’re made with full-on heavy cream, which is why they are so good.

Final Thoughts
Overall, Homecomin’ is one of the few places that I would not turn down if someone asked to eat there. We don’t do a ton of table service dining at Disney because of the expense and the fact that we are there so often. Most meals like this are saved for a new experience or when friends and family are visiting. It makes no sense for me to have three reviews of fried chicken biscuits on this website. Yet, somehow I do. For our last visit to this location (that includes a fried chicken platter and dessert), see our more formal review of lunch at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin‘.
