Visiting Magic Kingdom This Week? Check for Soft Openings at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
We’ve seen multiple Disney news outlets report that a soft opening is happening at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin as of this morning (March 30th). Earlier today, Walt Disney World revealed that construction walls were down around the attraction’s entrance, and Disney shared photos of the ride’s new marquee.
As you likely know, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is set to officially open on April 8, 2026. So if you’re visiting Magic Kingdom this week, you might want to take a stroll through Tomorrowland to see if the newly refurbished attraction is available.

Of course, we want to stress that there are no guarantees. We’ve been fortunate enough to take advantage of a few soft openings over the years and have found that they are usually only offered for a limited time in the days leading up to an official reopening. As of this morning, the attraction still shows as closed on both the Walt Disney World website and the My Disney Experience app. So those resources are not a good indicator of whether or not a soft opening is taking place.
If you happen to luck up on a soft opening, you can chalk it up to good timing on your part. We just want to make sure that if you’re visiting between now and then, you’re aware of a potential opportunity to ride the attraction early.
Keep in mind that aside from the Christmas holidays, the next two weeks before and after Easter are among the busiest at Walt Disney World. Check back with Resorts Gal for the latest spin on all things Disney!
