Here's How to Find Chip and Dale at Disney's Hollywood Studios (Near the Brown Derby)

Chip and Dale meet guests near the Brown Derby at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. However, the chipmunk pair has been known to pull a switch-a-roo or two over the past couple of years, as far as locations go. For the time being, they seem to have settled back near the Brown Derby, which is a convenient location. Below, we’ll discuss their meet-and-greet and preview a few photos of what to expect.

If you’re visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll want to check the My Disney Experience on the day of your visit for their exact location and times. They usually meet intermittently throughout the day between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Here are our instructions for how to check the app.

How to Locate Characters in the My Disney Experience App

Open the My Disney Experience app and select the pin drop at the bottom of the home screen.
Scroll (left to right) through the icons at the top of the screen and select “Characters.”
After selecting characters, use the locations drop-down to select the park of your choice.
Then, on the bottom right of the screen, select “Show List.”
Scroll through the list of characters with their times and locations.

As an alternative, you can use the map view to locate characters.

*As the day passes, you might notice that characters disappear from the app. When their last scheduled time passes, the meet-and-greet automatically disappears. A new schedule won’t be loaded until the following day. It is essential to check the app for meet-and-greets on the day of your visit.

The Brown Derby is toward the front of the park. It’s at the end of Hollywood Boulevard. The building is pretty much in front of the former Animation Courtyard. Some might say it’s on the corner of Hollywood and Sunset. Chip and Dale meet “near” the Brown Derby. If you look at the photo below, you can see the restaurant’s entrance in the background.

Chip and Dale are non-talking characters but do an excellent job of communicating with guests. A PhotoPass photographer was with them on the day of this visit. However, they aren’t always guaranteed. Chip and Dale also sign autographs at this meet-and-greet. Do you know how to tell the two apart? Chip has a dark nose like a chocolate chip, and Dale has a red nose and a dale (a gap) between his teeth.
