Geyser Point Menu Spotlight: Chipotle Barbecue Bison Meatballs and Steak Salad
Whether you want to enjoy a quick bite or sit down and relax for a while, I believe that Geyser Point Bar and Grill is one of the best options not only at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge but in all of Disney World. In the past couple of months, I’ve enjoyed two dishes at the restaurant on entirely different occasions. First, I tried the Chipotle Barbecue Bison Meatballs, which have been exceptionally popular since they debuted last year. Then, on another visit, I had a sit-down meal at the restaurant when I had a little more time to relax. Let’s take a look at both items, and I’ll share more about how this location works well for almost anyone.

We’ll start with the Chipotle Bison Barbecue Meatballs, which were $16.00 at the time of this visit. If you’re looking for these on the menu, they are in the appetizers section. However, I’m not entirely sure why. Since they come on a bed of polenta, they felt more like an entree. They are described on the menu as “with goat cheese polenta and onion straws.”

To provide a little backstory, it was a pleasant day, but I had been fairly busy and had waited too long to eat. So, on my way to the Wilderness Lodge, I placed a mobile order to pick these up. In this case, mobile ordering made a lot of sense. I was staying on the property and had a refillable mug that I could fill up at the refillable mug station. (Not having to pay $5.00 for a drink was a plus.) I also didn’t have to worry about sitting down, ordering food, and then waiting for it to be prepared. When I mobile order from Geyser Point, I almost always do it on the way back to the resort. When the bus passes through the resort’s main gate, I select the “I’m here, prepare my order” button in the app. I usually stop at the restroom, freshen up, and by the time I arrive, my order is ready. Now, had I done my research ahead of time, I would have dined at the restaurant instead of mobile ordering these. As you can see in the photo below, these would have been much better served on a regular plate.

Now, don’t get me wrong. They were delicious. The meatballs were swimming in a tasty sauce, and I really enjoyed the polenta underneath. If you combine everything in one bite, it’s a flavor explosion. My only complaint was the way it was served and that the onions were a little heavy, but that’s more of a personal preference. I would definitely order these on a future visit if I were dining at the restaurant. This is a dish that comes best served on a plate with real flatware.

For reference, I enjoyed this meal outside at one of the picnic tables with an umbrella near the restaurant. It was just as pleasant as dining at the restaurant, only quicker.

On another visit, I had a little more time to kill, and I was looking for something healthy. This time, I decided to go with the multi-grain steak salad. It’s described on the menu as mixed greens, quinoa, apples, goat cheese, golden raisins, candied walnuts, and apple cider vinaigrette. Now, if you’ve ever read our formal Geyser Point Bar and Grill Review, you may recall that I’ve had the plant-based and the salmon version of this salad before. Both are incredible options; however, the plant-based version is not listed on the menu at this time.

Anyway, the steak salad was another homerun. It was a very filling meal, and the components of the salad make it a flavorful option. It’s always good to find something like this on a menu at Disney, especially after all the junk food that’s so prevalent at almost every turn.

I only had one minor issue with the salad, and I believe it was inevitable. It was a sirloin steak, and while perfectly cooked, it was a little tough. The server had to bring me a separate plate and a better knife so I could cut it into bite-sized pieces.

On this occasion, I enjoyed a view from the restaurant looking out to the Wilderness Lodge side of the resort. That’s the restaurant’s quick service window and drink station you see in the background of the photo. Of course, in reference to the Disney Dining Plan, Geyser Point Bar and Grill doesn’t count as a quick service option. All meals here are a table service credit.

Overall, I enjoyed both items and would happily order them again. If you’ve never dined at Geyser Point, it’s worth the visit over to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge for a meal. I end up here 3-4 times a year, and there are very few places that I frequent that often.
