Meet Joy at Pixar Plaza (Disney's Hollywood Studios)

Joy from Inside Out meets guests daily at Pixar Plaza at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. She moved to this location a few years back when the follow-up film was released, and she remains here today. She previously met at the Imagination Pavilion at Epcot. However, that meet-and-greet location is no longer available.

If you’ve ever visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ve likely spent some time in the Pixar Plaza area. This location was formerly Pixar Place before Toy Story Land opened. The area is now used as a flex space for several Pixar characters, including a few superheroes (Elastigirl, Frozone, and Edna Mode), Sulley from Monsters Inc., and now Joy!

Joy took over the location where Frozone was meeting. However, Frozone is still available as a roaming character. As far as Joy’s backstory goes, she is the emotion of happiness and is responsible for keeping things positive for Riley, the soon-to-be teenager from Inside Out and Inside Out 2.

We joined an extensive line to meet Joy at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on this visit. As you can see from the photo below, most of the line was in direct sunlight later in the afternoon. It was a long and miserable wait. We waited for over 45 minutes to meet her. I recommend getting this meet-and-greet out of the way earlier rather than later. The cast member attending this location said it was much shadier in the morning before the sun was overhead.

While we did wait a long time to meet Joy, it was a wonderful meet-and-greet. I noticed that many guests spent longer than usual visiting with her. You can tell that she is the kind of character who has a far deeper meaning to guests than what meets the eye. I’m sure we could all use a little joy in our lives.

How to Locate Characters in the My Disney Experience App

Open the My Disney Experience app and select the pin drop at the bottom of the home screen.
Scroll (left to right) through the icons at the top of the screen and select “Characters.”
After selecting characters, use the locations drop-down to select the park of your choice.
Then, on the bottom right of the screen, select “Show List.”
Scroll through the list of characters with their times and locations.

As an alternative, you can use the map view to locate characters.

*As the day passes, you might notice that characters disappear from the app. When their last scheduled time passes, the meet-and-greet automatically disappears. A new schedule won’t be loaded until the following day. It is essential to check the app for meet-and-greets on the day of your visit.
