‘Let the Magic Begin’ Welcome Show Temporarily Modified During Cinderella Castle Project
Walt Disney World has announced that characters will not be making appearances in Let the Magic Begin, the morning welcome show at Magic Kingdom, as work takes place on Cinderella Castle. Per the announcement, guests will still hear the audio from the welcome show to help start their day. Here is the official wording from the Walt Disney World website.
Cinderella Castle is currently undergoing a magical transformation. Due to project work, Let The Magic Begin will be temporarily modified. While characters will not be making an appearance during this time, you will still hear the welcome fanfare and music to start your day at Magic Kingdom.

Disney first announced an updated color scheme featuring grays, blues, creams, and touches of gold for Cinderella Castle back last August. The project’s overall aim is to enhance the castle’s architecture as it returns to a more traditional look. The castle was painted a rose-gold color back in 2020.
With this notice, work has begun on the repainting of Cinderella Castle. You may remember that Disney announced last month that work would begin on January 28, 2026. At that time, the announcement mentioned that guests could expect modifications to Let the Magic Begin. If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom during this project, you can expect to see cranes between park opening and noon. Per Disney, cranes will be installed around the castle ahead of the work. The cranes will be lowered and out of sight by noon each day. So if you’re hoping for a family picture in front of the castle, you’ll want to make sure to get one after lunchtime.
Disney also announced that Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire and Happily Ever After will continue to take place as scheduled with minor adjustments. Starting today, Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire will only be offered in the afternoons, starting at 1:00 p.m. You’ll want to check the My Disney Experience app for exact showtimes on the day of your visit.
At this time, there is no listed anticipated end date on the Cinderella Castle refurbishment. For more park updates, see our Disney World Theme Park Refurbishment Guide. Check back with us at Resorts Gal for more updates.
