Photos: Pocahontas in Her Winter Outfit at Disney's Animal Kingdom

This winter has been unseasonably cold for central Florida and many other areas of the United States. It’s been so cold that many of the characters in the parks have had to break out their winter wardrobes on multiple occasions. Few and far between are the days I’ve been in the parks over the years and have run into characters wearing winter attire. Of course, some of that could be because I don’t visit the parks when it’s cold unless I absolutely must. Sadly, those who are visiting for a week’s vacation don’t have that luxury.

As an example, we recently saw Pocahontas meeting in The Oasis of Disney’s Animal Kingdom on a cold winter’s day. She was wearing a trench coat trimmed with lovely suede fringe that gave it a capelet look. She meets at this location on most days and often has a line.

Since there was less than a handful of guests waiting to meet her, I decided to stop and take a few photos of her winter look. She was happy to oblige.

If you’re visiting the parks during chillier weather, you might want to look out for some of your favorite characters wearing a few extra layers. They will typically be face characters, like Pocahontas, who have outdoor meet-and-greet locations. It’s always fun to see something that you wouldn’t on an average day, even if it’s cold.

For those who are visiting during the colder months, remember to bundle up when the weather requires it. When we have to go out, we like to wear extra layers, including items to protect our skin, like gloves, hats, scarves, and such. If it gets warmer during the day and you need to shed some items, you might consider renting a locker; each park has them near the entrance.
