Donald and Daisy Duck Join Goofy at Harambe Train Station for Temporary Meet-and-Greet
On a recent visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we noticed a temporary character meet-and-greet taking place at the Harambe Train Station. We also saw that signage for Rafiki’s Planet Watch was completely covered. You may remember that this area temporarily closed in late February. From my understanding, it will no longer be called Rafiki’s Planet Watch moving forward.
The area closed to make way for a new experience called Bluey’s Wild World at Conservation Station, which is slated to open on May 26th. Between now and then, the Harambe Train Station is being used as a character meet-and-greet location for Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Goofy. Goofy has been meeting at this location since last Fall. So if you’re visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the next few months, this is a great opportunity to meet three characters at once, each wearing a unique outfit. Here’s a look at the entrance to the Harambe Train Station.

A smaller sign indicated that an exciting event was happening nearby, including character greetings and Wilderness Explorer activities.

Even though these photos were taken during the busy Spring Break season, it was apparent that most guests weren’t aware of the location.

Once we reached the train station, we took a left for the character greetings.

You’ll wait in one line and then meet Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Goofy. We waited less than five minutes. Both Donald and Daisy Duck were wearing their safari suits. These are the same outfits they wear at Tusker House, a nearby character dining experience.

After we said hello to Donald, we stopped by to see Daisy. She was looking as fabulous as ever.

Next, we ran into Goofy, who’s wearing his bird-watching outfit. All of the characters signed autographs at this location, and a PhotoPass photographer was present at each meet-and-greet on the day of our visit.

In the center of the train station, there were several activities set up for children. Most of them were part of the Wilderness Explorer program.

You can pick up a complimentary guidebook when you first enter the park. There were also a few available at a stand in the area.

All three character meet-and-greets are listed in the My Disney Experience app. We circled back through the area later in the day and found that they were wrapping things up at about 4:00 p.m. You’ll want to check the app on the day of your visit for exact locations and times. Remember that there are many changes taking place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at this time. This means we’ll likely see more character meet-and-greet locations shift. Our best advice is to use the app as your guide in the park, and if you can’t find someone, ask a cast member at another character’s meet-and-greet location. Here are our instructions for using the app to locate characters:
How to Locate Characters in the My Disney Experience App
- Open the My Disney Experience app and select the pin drop at the bottom of the home screen.
- Scroll (left to right) through the icons at the top of the screen and select “Characters.”
- After selecting characters, use the locations drop-down to select the park of your choice.
- Then, on the bottom right of the screen, select “Show List.”
- Scroll through the list of characters with their times and locations.
- As an alternative, you can use the map view to locate characters.
*As the day passes, you might notice that characters disappear from the app. When their last scheduled time passes, the meet-and-greet automatically disappears. A new schedule won’t be loaded until the following day. It is essential to check the app for meet-and-greets on the day of your visit.
