Review: The Signature Burger Prix Fixe Lunch at Tiffins
While we often joke about burgers and chicken nuggets being a natural part of the theme park experience, there are times when you really want a good burger. It’s one of those cravings that you have to satisfy. So on a recent visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, I found myself scrolling through menus on the My Disney Experience app to try to find a burger. My final decision came down to the signature burger at Tiffins or the Kobe Beef Burger at Yak and Yeti.
I’ll be the first to admit I’m the worst when it comes to making decisions. I was literally laboring over which restaurant to choose, the price differences, and whether I wanted to eat at a nice restaurant when I was by myself. To be fair, it was a $17.00 difference in price. Ultimately, however, I decided the price wasn’t a major factor because the meal at Tiffins was part of a prix fixe lunch offering. So the price included one beverage (non-alcoholic), the burger entree with fries, and to sweeten the pot, a dessert. I figured by the time it was all said and done, the price gap wouldn’t have been quite so much.

It was about 2:00 p.m. or so when I arrived, and I was able to easily secure a table for one. After a few minutes, a cast member seated me in The Grand Gallery, which is the largest of the three dining rooms at Tiffins. For reference, Tiffins is a signature restaurant. It is the only fine dining location in the park, and a lovely place to dine. When it first opened, my son and I got into the habit of dining here on every trip. We loved it. But in recent years, I have to admit that it has fallen a bit off my radar. That’s a shame because it’s truly one of the top ten restaurants, if not the top five, at Disney World.

If you haven’t had a chance to dine here, I would encourage you to try it. While the menu might sound a little ambitious, I can assure you that the food here is of high quality and expertly prepared. You can expect delicious and unique menu offerings, a serene atmosphere, and impeccable service. The people who work here really know what they’re doing.

Here is one of the art displays on the back wall of the Grand Gallery. The other two rooms are the Safari Gallery and the Trek Gallery.

In addition to the regular menu, I was given a separate lunch menu that listed the Land Salad with Grilled Steak and the Prix Fixe Menu. The Land Salad is available during dinner as an appetizer without the protein. However, at lunch, you can order the larger portion, which comes with grilled steak. There is also an option to substitute the steak with grilled shrimp, grilled chicken, or roasted pork belly. The salad option is a little more appealing than some because it’s made with young lettuce from The Land Pavilion at Epcot (Living with the Land).
The prixe fixe menu was listed under the salad option. It was $42.00 at the time of this visit. Per the menu, it includes Tiffins signature burger, dessert, and a choice of non-alcoholic beverage offering. The burger comes with waffle fries, and there is an option to upgrade it to a Black Truffle Experience for $15.00. The burger is described as an in-house beef and bacon blend, aged cheddar, demi-glaze, a Parker House roll, and seasoned waffle fries. The truffle experience comes with shaved black truffles, truffle aioli, and herb and Truffle Cordero Cheese.
I asked the server about the Black Truffle Experience, and he said you really have to be committed to the strong truffle flavor. That was my concern. I enjoy truffles, but they can easily overpower the palate. So I decided to stick with the prix fixe menu. Please note that this is a lunch menu, and neither of these options is available at dinner.

While I was waiting, the server brought out a sample of bread service to enjoy. It was delicious.

It wasn’t long before my entree arrived, and it was impressive. Now, you might notice that I had the sauces placed on the side. I am not a fan of most aiolis, so I requested it that way. If you’re ever concerned about something being overpowered or if you have an aversion to a certain flavor, you can always talk to the server. They will accommodate your requests as best they can. I don’t necessarily consider myself a picky eater, but I cannot deal with raw tomatoes or mayonnaise.

As you can see, this is a sizable burger. It was also juicy and really offered that “burger” feeling I was after. The waffle fries were nicely seasoned. I loved the demi-glaze and ended up pouring it over the burger. As far as the aioli, it was mild. I imagine most people would enjoy it.

The burger was really filling, and at that point, I didn’t even know where I was going to put dessert. That’s when this bowl of deliciousness arrived. Well, rest assured, I enjoyed the entire thing. The pot de creme was described on the menu as chocolate custard, meringue crumble, and white chocolate chantilly. It was one of the richest, chocolatiest desserts I’ve had. It was pure yumminess, and those crumbled cookies on top added just the right amount of texture to the creamy custard. What looked like a simple dessert turned out to be perfectly complex.

Overall, I had an incredible meal that felt reasonable for the price, especially considering it was signature dining. I was also presented with a small card featuring artwork at the end of the meal. We have received quite a few of these over the years, and it’s always a nice gesture.

If you’re looking to enjoy fine dining or an elevated burger, make sure to add Tiffins to your lineup. I don’t really think you could go wrong with anything on the menu.
