Meet Goofy in His Bird-Watching Costume Near Restaurantosaurus
What kind of bird works at a construction site? A crane. Get it? This is the kind of joke you’ll want to come up with before you meet Goofy in his bird-watching attire at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. He’s giving all the Camp Mickey-Minnie vibes in this newly-fashioned look that comes with a set of props! Not to mention, that goofy smile is always adorable.
If you’re hoping to meet Goofy, he’s moved around a bit. As of late, he’s been meeting at a dedicated location next to Restaurantosaurus in Dinoland, U.S.A. Previously, he was meeting behind Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, which has since permanently closed. Before that, we ran into Goofy in his carnival costume in Dinoland USA. He was also part of the character cruises that have now ended.

Since Goofy moves so much, you’ll want to check his listing in the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit. We expect this location to close at some point in the future, with the remainder of Dinoland. We will update this article when this meet-and-greet closes. Here are the instructions on how to find characters in the app.
How to Locate Characters in the My Disney Experience App
- Open the My Disney Experience app and select the pin drop at the bottom of the home screen.
- Scroll (left to right) through the icons at the top of the screen and select “Characters.”
- After selecting characters, use the locations drop down to select the park of your choice.
- Then, on the bottom right of the screen, select “Show List.”
- Scroll through the list of characters with their times and locations.
- As an alternative, you can use the map view to locate characters.
*As the day passes, you might notice that characters disappear from the app. When their last scheduled time passes, the meet-and-greet automatically disappears. A new schedule won’t be loaded until the following day. It is essential to check the app for meet-and-greets on the day of your visit.

Not long after I arrived, a cast member rolled out Goofy’s bird-watching gear and mentioned that he would return in about 10 minutes. By this time, a couple of other guests had arrived, and we formed a line.

It looks like Goofy might have accidentally taken a selfie while trying to photograph the birds.

At the top of his gear, he had a chart that listed how many birdies he saw and what kind! Is this not the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?

Goofy then posed for a couple of photos. He signs autographs at this location, and a PhotoPass photographer was available during this visit.

Remember to check the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit for Goofy’s exact location and times. He meets intermittently throughout most of the day. But most character meet-and-greets tend to wrap up a few hours before the park closes. It’s also important to consider the weather for outdoor meet-and-greets. This meet-and-greet would be canceled in the event of rain or other inclement weather.
