Character Spotlight: Bert from ‘Mary Poppins’ at Disney World
Bert is a lead character in Disney’s live-action Mary Poppins. The timeless classic remains popular today and was followed by a sequel, Mary Poppins Returns, in 2018. Unfortunately, finding Bert in the theme parks at Walt Disney World has become rather difficult. He typically appears in the Adventure Friends Cavalcade at Magic Kingdom. Other than that, he would be considered an exceptionally rare find. Below, we’ll preview a few photos and discuss where you might see him.
Movies to Watch Before Your Disney World Vacation:
- Mary Poppins (1964)
- Mary Poppins Returns (2018)
- Saving Mr. Banks (2013)
Does Bert have a regular meet-and-greet at Walt Disney World? No, Bert hasn’t met in the parks in a long time.
New Limited-Time: Bert meets guests on Grand Ave at Jollywood Nights, a separately ticketed event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. He meets with a penguin. They rotate this meet-and-greet with Mary Poppins. (2024)
Does Bert make regular appearances in any of the parks? We often see Bert as one of the walking characters in the Adventure Friends Cavalcade at Magic Kingdom.
Timeline:
- He often appeared on Main Street, U.S.A., at Magic Kingdom in the mornings (pre-pandemic). Back then, guests could stop for a quick photo with Bert and Mary Poppins in their jolly holiday outfits. During that time (2019ish), Mary Poppins met in the Liberty Square gazebo. Bert often joined her there in the morning.
- Bert has appeared in the past as a chimney sweeper. We last saw him in that costume in Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade (2021).
