Character Spotlight: Buzz Lightyear at Disney World
Buzz Lightyear is a primary character in Disney Pixar’s computer-animated film Toy Story (1-5) and Lightyear. He is a toy superhero action figure whose arch-enemy is the Evil Emperor Zurg. The little green men (aliens from The Claw) ooooh and ahhhh every time they see him. He is one of the most iconic animated characters of all time, and his catchphrase, “To infinity and beyond,” is known worldwide. If you’re planning a visit to Walt Disney World, you can pencil in Buzz Lightyear as a character on your schedule. He has a regular meet-and-greet, which we’ll discuss below. We’ll also preview photos that convey a little of his history in the theme parks.

Does Buzz Lightyear have a regular meet-and-greet at Walt Disney World? Buzz Lightyear meets daily in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You’ll want to check the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit for his exact times and locations.
How to Locate Characters in the My Disney Experience App
- Open the My Disney Experience app and select the pin drop at the bottom of the home screen.
- Scroll (left to right) through the icons at the top of the screen and select “Characters.”
- After selecting characters, use the locations drop down to select the park of your choice.
- Then, on the bottom right of the screen, select “Show List.”
- Scroll through the list of characters with their times and locations.
- As an alternative, you can use the map view to locate characters.
*As the day passes, you might notice that characters disappear from the app. When their last scheduled time passes, the meet-and-greet automatically disappears. A new schedule won’t be loaded until the following day. It is essential to check the app for meet-and-greets on the day of your visit.

Does he make any other appearances in the parks? Buzz formerly met in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom on the Space Ranger Map near his attraction, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Unfortunately, that meet-and-greet ended in 2023.
Other Places We’ve Seen Buzz Lightyear at Disney World:
- Buzz Lightyear rides on a Toy Story float in Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade. (Current)
- Buzz met as a social distancing character on the Rocketeer Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland during social distancing between 2020-2021. During this time, he was also part of a motorcade at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
- He was part of the Boo To You Parade, where he rode on a float with the LGM (little green men). The last time we saw him in the parade was in 2022.
