Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room at Magic Kingdom (An Attraction Guide)

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room is an attraction in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom Park. It features audio-animatronic birds and is located directly behind The Magic Carpets of Aladdin.

Below, we’ll look at the specifics of experiencing Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room during your Walt Disney World vacation. Fans of Walt Disney will likely want to see a performance since this was one of his original attractions. But fair warning, you’ll more than likely leave this attraction humming along to the tune of “In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room.” A song created for the attraction by the Sherman brothers.

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room

Enchanted Tiki Room is one of those attractions, similar to the Carousel of Progress that provides a dose of nostalgia for Disney fans. Walt Disney himself created and developed the original concept of this attraction. Outside the entrance, a sign displays the minutes until the next show begins. The Enchanted Tiki Room is usually open from the park’s open until close.

While you’re waiting, you’ll stand in a covered outdoor queue. The longest wait should be for the next show to begin.

When the theater doors open, everyone is asked to secure a seat on one of the benches. The room darkens, and the performance begins. Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room lasts approximately 15 minutes. If you need to leave at any time, exit doors are available on the side of the theater.

As the show begins, four parrots, Michael, Pierre, Fritz, and Jose, drop from the ceiling. After a quick introduction, all of the birdies sing! Some (including the Glee Club) will drop from the ceiling as they sing a few popular tunes, including The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room song.

Toward the end, the weather begins to change, and you’ll see bolts of lightning and hear crashing thunder outside the Tiki Room’s windows. A Hawaiian war chant is sung; even the totem poles help sing along. Soon after, the weather clears, and everything is pleasant once again in the Enchanted Tiki Room. Then the lights come on, and of all things, a version of Heigh-Ho from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs plays in the background.

Fun Facts

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room originally debuted in 1963 at Disneyland Park in California. It was the first time Disney’s audio-animatronics technology was introduced.

Walt Disney World’s version, Tropical Serenade, was an original opening day attraction at Magic Kingdom in 1971. However, in the late 90s, the attraction was refurbished entirely and reintroduced as The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management. That show featured Zazu from The Lion King and Iago from Aladdin as hosts. However, due to the original version’s popularity, in 2011, the attraction was restored to its former glory.

The late actor Jerry Orbach (Lumiere) voices Pierre. Wally Boag, Fulton Burley, and Thurl Ravenscroft voice the other three parrots. Tokyo Disneyland has a version of the Enchanted Tiki Room where Stitch interrupts the performance. This version is called “Stitch Presents Aloha E Komo Mai.”

We give the Enchanted Tiki Room the green light. This is an attraction that you can do anytime. However, you’ll want to decide if it’s worth the time it takes. If you need a break or it’s raining, this is an excellent spot! But if you’re on a tight schedule, you might save this attraction for a future visit when you have more time. It’s not the end of the world if you miss this one!

Green Light

We give an attraction the green light if we consider it a must-do, regardless of the posted wait. We also give the green light for attractions we deem suitable to experience anytime. For example, some attractions have high capacities. Therefore, the lines continuously move and you shouldn’t have a long wait unless the attraction experiences downtime.

Red Light

We recommend checking the posted wait times for red light attractions. Then, make a quick judgment call on whether to wait, skip it, or return later. We also red light some attractions that we feel might not be suitable based on our experience.

Final Thoughts

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room is a fun attraction that provides a cool escape from the Florida heat. While we do not visit it every visit, we enjoy it from time to time. That said, if you only have one day at the park and are looking to do some of the more thrilling attractions, you can save this one for another time.
