Disney World in February 2026 (Dates, Weather, and Crowds)
Are you considering a visit to Walt Disney World this February? Similar to last month, it could be busier than expected due to a couple of popular weekends that bring in crowds. As far as overall busyness throughout the month, we find it to be very hit-and-miss.
The good thing is that the holidays are completely behind us. So you don’t have to deal with any lingering decorations like you do in early January. In fact, depending on the weather, you might just see the first signs of Spring as flowers and seasonal trees start to bloom.
This month has a couple of big closures. For starters, February 1st is the last day to experience DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The ride, along with the rest of the land, will permanently close on February 2nd. Additionally, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will close on February 14th for refurbishment. Blizzard Beach will open the following day, February 15th. Below, we’ll take a look at a few hurdles you might face regarding crowds this month and touch a little more on the weather.

What About Crowds this February?
February is often a little busier than most anticipate, especially mid-month. The long holiday weekend around President’s Day is one of the busier times of the year. Keep in mind that’s pretty true of most holiday weekends. We expect crowds to build the week leading into the holiday, peak over the weekend, and then start to slow down later the following week.
Additionally, Walt Disney World hosts the Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend between February 26th through March 2nd. Anytime a runDisney event is hosted, crowds are comparable to a holiday weekend. So you’ll want to keep that in mind when planning.
What About the Weather?
February is similar to January, so I’ll rehash some of the same information we discussed in last month’s guide. That advice is that Florida winters are unpredictable. It’s good to bring extra clothes that you can layer. You could experience beautiful 75-degree days the first half of your trip, followed by drops down to the 30s-40s that feel like the teens. Don’t be surprised if you have to run the air conditioner in the afternoon and turn the heat on by nightfall.
If a cold front were to come through, you’ll want to be prepared. I always like to mention that this kind of weather sends guests flocking to the gift shops for sweatshirts and other winter gear, which is often an extra (and unexpected) expense.
Personally, I wear sweaters and lightweight jackets that I can wrap around my waist and put on again after nightfall. Items like scarves, gloves, and hats go a long way on chilly evenings. I don’t know about you, but it is difficult for me to stay out in the parks after dark when I’m cold. So it’s something you’ll want to consider.
If you have extras that you don’t really want to tote around all day or return to your resort, you might consider a locker rental. All of the theme parks have lockers near the entrances. When the weather warms up, you can store your items for the day and then retrieve them when it gets cooler. While this is an extra expense, it will be much more affordable to bring items from home than to buy a round of $50.00 (or more) sweatshirts for everyone.
Everyone always asks: Can you swim in February? Unfortunately, it’s not something that anyone can answer outright. The first year I lived in Florida, we swam at night the entire month of February. The next year, it was too cold. If you’re hoping to swim, remember that Disney pools are heated to approximately 82 degrees year-round. We have found that the resort pools typically remain open unless the outdoor temperatures drop to about 60 degrees or lower. Some days, the pool might open later if the weather warms up or close earlier in the event of a temperature drop.
It’s really day by day with the weather in February. On the positive side, this month is part of the dry season. So while it could rain, it is less likely than some of the more tropical months when it rains almost daily.
