Types of Disney Discounts
Throughout the year, we see a variety of discounts offered. Here is a simple explanation of what kind of discounts might be released:
Ticket and Room Package Offer: This popular offer allows guests to combine a room and ticket discount. If you need to purchase tickets, it’s often the best way to go.
Room-Only Discount Offer: The room-only discount allows you to receive a discount on your hotel room. We like to compare this offer to the ticket and room package. It offers a little more flexibility if you plan to have some down days at the resort.
Free Dining Plan Offer: When available, this offer requires guests to pay regular rates for rooms and tickets.
Offers for Guests with Special Entitlements: Special offers are often available for guests who fall under certain categories. For example, Disney sometimes releases special offers for guests who are subscribed to the Disney+ streaming service. It is also common to see special offers for Florida Residents, Disney Visa Cardholders, and Annual Passholders. Typically, an annual passholder discount is the most significant discount released.

When Does Disney Release New Offers?
Disney doesn’t actually offer a working schedule of when new promotions will be released. We can, however, look at the past to get a general idea of when to expect special offer announcements in the future. Here’s an idea:
First of the Year Announcements: Disney typically announces offers for summer through early fall travel around the first of the year. For example, in early January, Disney usually announces several promotions for stays between early May and September of the same year.
Spring Announcements: Disney has been known to follow up with a few more summer travel offers in the spring (think Spring Break season), depending on whether or not bookings are stale. We also see the release of late summer through fall travel offers around this time. (Sometimes offers might extend into the holiday season.)
Summer Announcements: By July, it’s halfway to Christmas, which is when we usually see offers for guests visiting in November and December. These offers are released with the rest of the initial seasonal announcements.
Fall Announcements: By late September (or early October), we will typically see the first discounts released for the upcoming year.
Unfortunately, we rarely know ahead of time when new offers will be released. So it’s important to be aware of these things. We always send our readers an announcement when new offers are released. Deals will vary by resort, category, and season. These offers are also highly coveted and limited in availability. Therefore, you’ll want to act quickly when they’re announced.
Our best advice is to book your room in advance with an authorized Disney Travel Planner. We use Firefly Travels. They can actually get your reservation on the books before discounts are released. Then, work to have that discount applied when it’s released. (They will be the first to be aware of new offers. So you won’t have to worry about waking up at 6:00 a.m. every day to look for new offers. Using a travel agent for Disney is a no-brainer.)
Bounceback Rates
While you’re on vacation (or within 7 days of completion), you have the opportunity to book a bounceback offer. This is a special rate that’s only extended for select dates each year.
