Exploring the Bay Slides at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon
If you’re planning a trip to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon with little ones, you’ll want to be aware of the Bay Slides. This pair of slides sits in Blustery Bay, which is on the far left side of the Surf Pool. Blustery Bay is the perfect solution for parents who want to enjoy the wave pool but feel their children might not be ready to take on the larger waves.
Below, we’ll preview the Bay Slides and discuss what to expect. I visited Typhoon Lagoon for many years without ever noticing this area existed. Early on, we developed a “favorite spot” to enjoy the wave pool at Whitecap Cove, which is on the opposite side of Bluster Bay. So, if you didn’t explore the wave pool in its entirety, you might never know this attraction exists.
How Disney Water Parks Operate
It’s important to note that Disney’s water parks operate on a rotational schedule. Blizzard Beach is typically open between early November and March, and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is open between March and November. You’ll want to check the exact hours and availability for your visit.
A large rock formation that doubles as a slide helps block the current of the stronger waves from coming into the bay. The Bay Slides have a maximum height requirement instead of a minimum. These slides are for the enjoyment of children 60″ or less. The slides are accessible by a small set of stairs. A lifeguard sits at the top.
Below is a photo of where the slide exits on the opposite side. You’ll notice a divider at the slide’s exit blocks the waves.
Additionally, you’ll find several sitting areas along a rock wall behind the Bay Slides. You can sit and watch if your children are old enough to slide independently.
Overall, the Bay Slides are a fun area for the little ones and a pleasant area for parents to enjoy the pool while children play.
