Disney Set to Begin Repainting Cinderella Castle in January 2026
Walt Disney World has announced that it will begin preparations for the repainting of Cinderella Castle this January. You may recall that Disney first announced the return of the classic look to Cinderella Castle at the Destination D23 panel, “Beyond the Spires: An Insider Look at Disney Castles,” back in August. According to Disney, the updated color scheme will feature grays, blues, creams, and touches of gold, with the overall aim of enhancing the castle’s architecture.
Work for the project will begin around Cinderella Castle with the draining of the castle moat. Cranes will be installed around the castle ahead of the work. Per Disney, the cranes will be lowered and out of sight by noon each day.
Starting January 28, 2026, Let The Magic Begin, the morning welcome show may be modified as work around the castle takes place. Additionally, Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire and Happily Ever After will continue to take place as scheduled with minor adjustments. Here is a look at the castle’s current color scheme.

Disney will begin draining the moats surrounding the castle in January.

Lastly, here is the concept art released by Disney for the repaint. Cinderella Castle was last painted in 2020 to the current “pink” color. The new paint job is expected to resemble the castle’s original, traditional look.

No further details have been announced at this time. We’ll add any additional refurbishment dates provided by Disney if and when they’re announced. For more on what’s going on around the parks, we keep a list of ongoing ride and entertainment refurbishments:
