Extended Evening Hours at Disney World Are All Over the Place this August
Over the past few years, extended evening hours have been fairly consistent at Walt Disney World. This August, however, we have found that they stay the course at Epcot on Monday evenings, but are all over the map on the second weeknight offering. Below, we’ll preview the extended evening hours schedule for August 2025 at the four theme parks.
For those wondering, extended evening hours allow select resort guests to experience the parks for a couple of hours after close on select evenings. Select resort guests means you have to be staying at a deluxe or deluxe villa resort. If you’re staying at a moderate, value, or off-site resort, you won’t be eligible for this additional benefit. For what it’s worth, we always plan to attend this special offering when eligible.
There is, however, one caveat. You must have valid admission to enter the park. Therefore, if you have a park ticket with no extra entitlements, you’ll want to spend your day at the park that’s offering extended evening hours. For example, you couldn’t spend the day at Magic Kingdom and then visit Epcot at 9:00 p.m. with a regular ticket. You would want to spend the day at Epcot and then stay late at Epcot for the extended hours. (You can leave and return if you need a break at any point during the day.)

Of course, if you have a park hopper ticket upgrade, you can hop as much as you like, and that’s our preferred method. We might spend a morning at Animal Kingdom, followed by an afternoon at the pool, dinner at the resort, and then visit Epcot for fireworks and extended evening hours. How you choose to plan your time is up to you. It’s also important to note that the price of the park hopper upgrade won’t be worth it for everyone. We enjoy hopping but visit regularly and are experienced at navigating the parks.
Okay, now for the extended hours schedule at Disney World next month:
- Monday, August 4th (9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) at Epcot
- Wednesday, August 6th (6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Monday, August 11th (9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) at Epcot
- Wednesday, August 13th (11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.) at Magic Kingdom
- Monday, August 18th (9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) at Epcot
- Wednesday, August 20th (6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Monday, August 25th (9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) at Epcot
- Friday, August 29th (9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
As you can see, the second weeknight offering starts at Animal Kingdom, skips to Magic Kingdom, returns to Animal Kingdom, and then moves to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I want to point out two things. First, that late night at Magic Kingdom is a rare thing these days. Before 2020, it was the norm to stay out late in the parks, except for Animal Kingdom. We can thank the return of a nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom for these newfound extended hours, and hope they become a regular thing.

This is also a considerable offering given the heat this time of year. You could plan a day at the pool or relaxing at the resort, visit Magic Kingdom at about 5:00 p.m., and you would still have 8 hours in the park before closing! All that touring in the latter part of the day is so much more pleasant as long as you’re well-rested before you arrive. (Don’t forget to plan a late start the next morning!)
The other thing I want to note is that Disney’s Hollywood Studios is hosting extended evening hours on a Friday toward the end of the month. This is also a rare find and worth taking advantage of if you’re visiting on this date. This park hosts extended evening hours less than any of the other four parks, and they are pretty great. You’ll want to remember, though, that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is not on the attraction list. So if you’re wanting to ride it, make sure to get in line about five minutes before the park’s official closing time. By the time you’re finished, the park will have started to clear out, and you can move on to other eligible attractions.
Now, we see this question time and time again: What about Disney’s Animal Kingdom? Is it worth it? We recently answered that question in detail in another post: Are Extended Evening Hours Worth it at Disney’s Animal Kingdom This Summer? The short answer is yes, and we explain why.
Ultimately, if you’re visiting this August and are eligible for extended evening hours, you might get a bonus with the extra late hours at Magic Kingdom or that random night at Hollywood Studios.
