Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin at Disney World

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is an interactive slow-moving ride where guests have the opportunity to accumulate points while shooting at a variety of targets.

My best tip for scoring points on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is to locate your red laser on the targets out ahead of you. If you can focus on your laser and actually see where it is, you’ll do a lot better than aiming and thinking you are close.

The theming of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin derives from Toy Story 2, which features none other than our favorite intergalactic hero, Buzz Lightyear. This is the one where he faces his enemy, the evil Emperor Zurg.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is somewhat similar to Toy Story Mania at Hollywood Studios. However, there are no 3D elements here, like over at Toy Story Mania.

Each ride vehicle seats two passengers and has two attached blasters. You’ll use the blaster to aim at targets and score points.

The on-ride photo area is about three-quarters of the way through the attraction. It’s in an area where those with a competitive nature will have a face of concentration as they try to add more points to their score.

What do these points get you? Well, bragging rights for one. But if you do reach the maximum score of 999,999, snap a photo with your mobile device and show it to the cast member in the shop at the end of the ride. They will be happy to award you with a Galactic Hero button.

Wait times for this Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin are at their lowest during early morning and late evening hours. Additionally, the new Disney Genie portion of My Disney Experience should indicate the best time to ride during your day.

Know Your Disney Rules When Riding With Children-Any child under the age of seven or younger must be accompanied by an adult fourteen years or older.
