Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid

Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid is an attraction located in New Fantasyland at Disney World. The Little Mermaid ride allows guests to take a plunge under the sea entering a whole new world of aquatic life.

Fans of The Little Mermaid will not want to miss this beloved attraction. Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid is also perfect for smaller children and accommodates most guests.

Expect to hear classic tunes and see favorite characters, including King Triton, toward the end! Just don’t make any deals with Ursula along the way. She’s the type that likes to trick unsuspecting mermaids!

Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid ride at Magic Kingdom was added back in the New Fantasyland area several years ago now. The attraction has a long queue, and the ride is a fair length. So be prepared to walk a decent way to actually get to the ride’s loading area.

Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid is the kind of ride that children love because there are lots of bright colors and familiar tunes. And “under the sea” all of the creatures come to life and put on quite a show!

Need to Know: Journey of the Little Mermaid has a tremendously long queue. The outside distance of the line is fairly long. Additionally, the inside is a fairly long length as well. If there is a long line visible from the outside of the queue, I would skip this one and ride it later.

With that being said, this is usually an easy attraction to ride the majority of the day. Journey of the Little Mermaid is also an excellent option to ride during the late afternoon to evening hours. When the new Disney Genie comes on board, it should also indicate the best times to experience the attraction.

On another note, I’m not crazy about heading here in the event of rain because a portion of the queue is outside. Additionally, when you leave, there are not many nearby options for shelter in the event it’s still raining.

You could potentially head over to the Big Top Souvenirs next door at Storybook Circus after exiting the Little Mermaid ride. However, you might also be drenched by the time you get inside the tent.

Best Time to Ride: Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid is usually pretty easy to ride up until about 1:00 p.m and then again after 6:00 p.m.

Here is a portion of the outdoor queue as you see it heads into caves toward the back.

Under the Sea is an Omni-mover attraction like Haunted Mansion and Space Ranger Spin. You’ll have to step onto a slow-moving platform to board your clamshell.

Before long, Ariel will be waving and dancing as you pass her by. Unfortunately, the fun mood is darkened by Ursula. But don’t worry, everything turns out alright in the end.
