Lobby Refurbishment Underway at Disney's Pop Century Resort

Last month, Disney released a refurbishment notice for Pop Century, stating that the lobby would be refreshed between late July through early October. We stopped by the resort on a recent visit and found quite a bit of work underway. Construction walls were in place, starting at the lobby’s front entrance to about three-quarters of the way through the space.

As shown in the photo below, a reception area is still available for guests. It will be interesting to see if the entire side of the lobby is converted back into a reception area after the updates are complete.

These days, though, it seems that fewer guests need to check in or out. Disney’s text-to-room service takes care of that, and most guests can enter their rooms by using their mobile device or a MagicBand. As regular guests, it is a rare occurrence for us to require assistance from the front desk. Those kinds of things take up extra time. Time you might enjoy at the parks or the pool.

Most of the opposite side of the lobby was closed off with curtains. This area is home to various displays and shadow boxes filled with items representing the decades recognized by the resort.

I always stop and browse the displays when I have a little extra time. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Disney’s Pop Century is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment. The resort’s rooms are in the process of receiving a few updates. We shared a first look at the room updates here. As of this update, they are expected to be completed in February 2026.

Disney also recently shared that Petals Pool Bar would undergo a refurbishment, starting September 8th and lasting through mid-October. The resort’s gift shop and food court have been completely updated within the last year.
