Hidden Spots: The Sunset Overlook Lounge at Jambo House
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is home to many hidden spots. One of them is the perfect place to cozy up with a good book or maybe even nap after a busy morning of hitting the theme parks hard. It’s the Sunset Overlook Lounge that sits off the grand lobby of Jambo House. While the main lobby is showing off to all the guests, this little room sits quietly by itself, only a few feet away.

If you’re in the lobby, you’ll go to the back left corner. The entrance to the Overlook Lounge is immediately past the long row of check-in desks. A Disney Vacation Club desk sits nearby.

We’ve stopped in to rest here many times over the years and have rarely found anyone taking advantage of the space. So don’t be surprised if you have it all to yourself. It’s literally one of those places that’s hiding in plain sight.

If you’re into artifacts or historical subject matter, you might enjoy browsing the display cases and artwork. Fun fact (because you know I love them), Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to the largest collection of African art outside of Africa. Back in the day (approximately 6 years ago), a cultural representative led complimentary guided art tours of both Kidani Village and Jambo House. It was one of those things that we never got around to doing, and sadly, they’re no longer offered.

Anyway, if you have some downtime, this lounge isn’t the worst place to spend it.

It’s called the Sunset Overlook Lounge because it faces the Sunset Savanna, one of four lush savannas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

You can even step outside for a closer look. We saw a couple of Wildebeests grazing on this visit.

During our last stay, our room faced the Sunset Savanna. We would often see giraffes grazing in the morning. You might notice the circular fenced area to the right in the photo below. That’s a human coral in case something like a fire or other emergency happened.

Here’s an alternate view. It’s a pretty private area.

If you’re visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge for a meal or staying an entire week, I hope you’ll have a chance to check out this lounge.
