Meet Captain Jack Sparrow at Disney World
Ahoy, me hearties! We’re off on an adventure to meet Captain Jack Sparrow at Walt Disney World. The popular pirate meets with guests daily in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom. Below, we’ll discuss where and when to find the sea-loving scallywag. We’ll also review a few tips for conversations, character autographs, and preview a few photos of the pirate. Beware, you’ll long remember the day of your meet-and-greet as the day you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow. Almost. He does have a way of escaping sticky situations, doesn’t he?

Jack Sparrow meets guests in Adventureland throughout the day. He greets guests on the side of the Adventureland Stage, across the walkway from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. He also roams the area outside Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, the attraction’s gift shop. You never know when you might turn around and find him standing beside you. Here is usually available intermittently throughout most of the day up until about 4:00 p.m. You’ll want to check the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit for exact times and locations. Here’s how to do that:
How to Locate Characters in the My Disney Experience App
- Open the My Disney Experience app and select the pin drop at the bottom of the home screen.
- Scroll (left to right) through the icons at the top of the screen and select “Characters.”
- After selecting characters, use the locations drop-down to select the park of your choice.
- Then, on the bottom right of the screen, select “Show List.”
- Scroll through the list of characters with their times and locations.
- As an alternative, you can use the map view to locate characters.
*As the day passes, you might notice that characters disappear from the app. When their last scheduled time passes, the meet-and-greet automatically disappears. A new schedule won’t be loaded until the following day. It is essential to check the app for meet-and-greets on the day of your visit.

If you’ve read any of our character articles, you know I always recommend getting in line for a character meet before the scheduled time. On this particular afternoon, I had watched the Festival of Fantasy Parade from the edge of Frontierland. So, as soon as the parade passed, I went directly to join the line for the meet-and-greet that was already taking place. Thankfully, the line wasn’t too long. Had there been a long line or if the line was already closed, I would have had to wait approximately 30 minutes until his next scheduled time.
Since most of the walkways to Adventureland are cut off during the parade, the land is relatively empty until the parade passes. So, if you watch the parade near the stepping-off point, you can quickly walk to Adventureland and take advantage of a ride or this meet-and-greet with little to no wait.

It was 3:25 p.m. when I joined the line, and I met Captain Jack Sparrow at 3:30 p.m.

I told him I would like to take a few photos, and he asked how he should pose. My suggestion was to pose like a pirate, and he did an outstanding job.

Then he signed my autograph book.

A PhotoPass photographer was present at this location to take photos. However, they are not guaranteed.

Captain Jack Sparrow enjoys talking about various things, as you can imagine. He is especially interested in the location of the nearest barrel of rum. However, he will likely not have that conversation with your children. The conversation will go along the lines of sword-fighting and searching for buried treasures. No, he does not have the map, or so he says.

Captain Jack Sparrow is one of the most entertaining character meet-and-greets at Walt Disney World. Of course, all the characters work extremely hard to stay in their roles, and you won’t find any deterrence from the characters they portray. When my son was younger, we rarely met characters. At the time, I thought he wouldn’t enjoy it. So, when I started this blog many years ago, I knew I needed to learn more about the character meet-and-greets and how they worked. Little did I know how much I would enjoy it.
Meeting Captain Jack Sparrow will provide a memorable experience that you and your family can laugh about for years to come. He has quite a sense of humor. Good afternoon! I just happened upon our Jack Sparrow pics, comments and am so excited …we are going to Disney World next week and …my son is return Make a Wish kid…and quite frankly, this may be our last trip while he has any remaining sight….I have tried and tried to no avail go even get someone from Disney World to confirm if Jack will be there…but you give me hope! I can’t find any mention of him doing greetings but assume its in front of the Caribean ride? Do you have any inside knowledge about his being there ? when where? My son would be beyond the moon if he got to meet his fave pirate! But I can’t get anyone to even talk with me about the possiblity…..
Hi! Yes, Jack Sparrow usually meets in Adventureland near the stage (across from the ride) on most days. He is also one of the characters who meet at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. You’ll want to check the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit for availability and his exact times. He is a pretty popular character and I hope you’ll get the opportunity to meet him. Have a wonderful trip.
