Closing Timeline for Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World has announced that Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America will begin closing on July 7th (2025). Per the Disney Parks Blog, Imagineers are hard at work on the beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad project and bringing to life a first-ever land inspired by Disney Villains. Here is a timeline of what we know about these attractions. We have a separate closing timeline for the Liberty Square Riverboat, which will close on the same date.
Closing Timeline for Tom Sawyer Island
- August 10, 2024: Disney announced two new Cars-themed attractions would be part of a Frontierland expansion at Magic Kingdom during the 2024 D23 Ultimate Fan Event.
- August 12, 2024: The Disney Parks Blog posted the following: To make way for this completely new frontier, the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island will be transformed into vast and rugged terrains for a rally race with some of the world’s most iconic racers. Reference
- July 7, 2025: Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America’s final day will be on July 6th. The Liberty Square Riverboat and other areas of Frontierland are expected to begin closing on this date.
