Tron Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom to Receive Special Red Overlay Celebrating ‘Tron: Ares’ Film
If you’re preparing to step into the Grid in the near future, you might be in for a surprise. Disney has announced that Tron Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom will have a special ride overlay celebrating the release of the new Tron: Ares film. This announcement was made this morning during the Walt Disney Studios showcase at the Destination D23 event being held this weekend at Disney’s Coronado Springs. Here’s what Disney has to say about the upcoming overlay.
Guests can experience the new Tron: Ares ride overlay for a limited time at Magic Kingdom starting September 15, 2025. Tron: Ares releases in theaters on Oct. 10, 2025. It is the third film and the next installment in Disney’s iconic Tron sci-fi franchise.
In addition to the red overlay, guests can expect to hear a new background music overlay with sounds created by Nine Inch Nails that will intensify the experience.
The striking red hues in Tron: Ares within the digital realm contrast sharply with the classic blue tones of the Grid. Adding to the immersive visuals, the pulsating industrial sounds of Nine Inch Nails will drive the ride’s energy, pushing your experience between the Grid and reality into a fully immersive, futuristic symphony of light, speed, and sound.
The attraction will also offer new photos and videos of guests on board the ride during the overlay, starting September 15th.
