Here’s How To Find Kevin from ‘UP!’ at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Kevin, the mythical “Snipe” from Up and mama bird, meets with guests daily at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This adorable character interaction is worth going out of your way to see. But it’s simple enough that you might run into Kevin while touring the park. Below, we’ll discuss the details of this unique character meet-and-greet.

Kevin roams Discovery Island at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This is typically the only place in Walt Disney World where you can meet her. You might find her anywhere from the top of the Oasis to the back of the park near Feathered Friends in Flight or Yak and Yeti.

If you’re in the area, she’ll be pretty hard to miss. Her astonishing height and coat of feathers make her stand out. She’s escorted by a couple of Wilderness Explorers. They ensure she has enough room to move around as needed.

Occasionally, someone will approach the towering bird and ask to touch her feathers. Kevin will likely permit them to do so, but you have to ask. Given her height and complexity, she must move around a bit. So it’s good to give her enough space to do so. It’s always nice to see Kevin walking up to greet guests. Usually, it’s quite the opposite scenario.

Here is the exact moment we found her. Had we not seen her, we would have continued in the opposite direction toward Asia.

When Kevin saw my camera, she was kind enough to pose for a few photos. Not wanting to take up too much of her time, I was quickly on my way.

About that time, I heard her cawing at me. She wanted to pose for a few more photos.

From time to time, Kevin will pause to take photos with guests. So you’ll want to have a camera out and ready if she stops. My best advice is to say hi and grab a photo if possible, but don’t be disappointed if she moves on quickly.
Kevin’s appearance times were previously listed in the My Disney Experience App. Hopefully, they will return. You can check the app on the day of your visit for exact times. She typically roams the area intermittently between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Kevin does not sign autographs, and a PhotoPass photographer is unavailable for this meet-and-greet. Make sure to learn how to use the app before your visit. We have the instructions listed below, and a link to a tutorial with screenshots and tips.
How to Locate Characters in the My Disney Experience App
- Open the My Disney Experience app and select the pin drop at the bottom of the home screen.
- Scroll (left to right) through the icons at the top of the screen and select “Characters.”
- After selecting characters, use the locations drop down to select the park of your choice.
- Then, on the bottom right of the screen, select “Show List.”
- Scroll through the list of characters with their times and locations.
- As an alternative, you can use the map view to locate characters.
*As the day passes, you might notice that characters disappear from the app. When their last scheduled time passes, the meet-and-greet automatically disappears. A new schedule won’t be loaded until the following day. It is essential to check the app for meet-and-greets on the day of your visit.
