Ship Shape Health Club at Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club (Photos and Details)
Ship Shape Health Club is the fitness center at Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club. The gym sits behind Stormalong Bay Pool area along the indoor/outdoor walkway that connects the resorts. Specifically, it’s next to Lafferty Arcade and Beaches and Cream Soda Shop. On our last stay, we photographed the gym and its other amenities. This will be a mostly photo post that offers a look at what to expect. I think most will find the gym’s equipment sufficient for staying on a regular routine. I’ll also add a few tips and photos of the amenities that anyone might take advantage of during their stay.
A few rules are posted outside the Ship Shape Health Club. It’s essential to note that the health club formerly offered a massage and salon. Unfortunately, the salon and massage portion has never reopened. The sign reads:
- Use of the Fitness Center is complimentary for registered guests of the resort.
- Guests must be 14 years or older to use the facility.
- Guests between 14 and 17 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Read and follow equipment instructions.
- Shirt and closed toe shoes required at all times.
- Do not leave valuables unattended.
- We are not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
- Please place all towels in the proper container
- No wet bathing suits on exercise equipment.
Here are a few photos of the hotel’s gym and equipment.
You’ll find a water refill station with cups inside the gym. If you’re ever in the area and need a water, you can stop in and get one. I have done this several times after jogging around the lake.
I will also stop in and pick up an ice-cold towel from the mini-fridge after those runs. It’s so nice when it’s hot outside.
The gym is stocked with plenty of towels.
Beyond the sign that says restrooms, you’ll enter a hall that leads to a men’s and ladies locker room.
You’ll find substantial room to change, shower, or freshen up. It’s a wonderful amenity and I don’t believe many people are aware of it.
They had plenty of towels and washcloths.
The locker area was impressive
This area also has a substantial walk-in shower with more towels outside the entrance.
Built-in toiletries (the usual shampoo, conditioner, and body wash) are available.
A scale is also available if you need to check your weight during your visit.
