Big Thunder Mountain Railroad To Reopen in Spring of 2026
In other news, Disney has announced that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will reopen in the Spring of 2026. You may remember that the attraction has been closed for a significant refurbishment since early January 2025. While we don’t have an exact opening date for the wildest ride in the Wilderness, it’s good to know we’ll see it back in operation at Magic Kingdom fairly soon. Here is the exact wording from the Disney Parks Blog announcement.
Speaking of fresh air… fresh mountain air will be calling your name when Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopens this spring at Magic Kingdom, with touches of new magic and a crevasse-deep to mountain-top refurbishment.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is temporarily closed for refurbishment. The attraction will reopen with a little bit of new magic in Spring 2026.
