Refillable Mugs at Disney’s Blizzard Beach (Beverages, Refill Stations, & Value)
When you visit Disney’s Blizzard Beach, you can purchase a refillable mug (also known as Rapid Fill Mugs). Besides a few nuances, they work similarly to resort refillable mugs. Of course, they are only good at the water parks and must be activated each day you visit. That said, I have found that they offer some value. So below, I’ll share how Rapid Fill Mugs work at the water parks and my experience using one for the past few years. We’ll also discuss what types of beverages are available, beverage refill station locations, and whether or not they’re worth it.
We’ll start with a mug design from a previous water park season. The designs change every couple of years. The one below features Mickey with Buttons from Blizzard Beach. Minnie Mouse is on the opposite side, wearing heart sunglasses with Ice Gator and Duncan the Parrot from Typhoon Lagoon. The mugs have handles and a built-in straw. So, it’s a win-win if you prefer to drink from a straw because the water parks do not offer them.
After activation, you can refill your mug at any self-service beverage station throughout the park.
How Disney Water Parks Operate
It’s important to note that Disney’s water parks operate on a rotational schedule. Blizzard Beach is typically open between early November and March, and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is open between March and November. You’ll want to check the exact hours and availability for your visit.
Rapid Fill Mugs are available at most quick service locations. Per Disney, guests can enjoy fountain drink refills at any self-service beverage location within Blizzard Beach or Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. At the time of this update, the Rapid Fill mug is $12.99 and includes refills for the entirety of the day.
If you return to the park on a subsequent day, you can bring your mug and reactivate it for $8.50. (Prices for the mugs are listed on Lottawatta Lodge’s menu in the My Disney Experience app. You can place a mobile order from the app or purchase them at the register.)
Are Refillable Mugs Worth it at Blizzard Beach?
We visit Blizzard Beach a few times each season. We also visit Typhoon Lagoon pretty regularly. I purchased a mug several years ago after relocating to the area and have used it often. Sometimes, I visit a water park for a few hours near the end of the day. On those days, I carry a cold soda or two in my bag and leave them in a locker with my mug. On those days, I bring my refillable mug for ice. Then, I pour my can of soda over the ice to avoid paying the activation fee.
However, I always pay to activate my mug if we’re visiting for most of the day. I use it for lunch and a snack and then refill it for the ride home. Fountain drinks cost nearly $5.00. So, if you visit for one day and use the mug at least three times, it’s worth the cost. You’ll also have a fun souvenir to take home. But if you don’t use the mug more than a time or two, you’re probably better off purchasing a regular soda.
Fountain drinks include Coca-Cola products like Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Barq’s Root Beer, Sprite Zero, Minute Maid Lemonade Zero Sugar, Powerade, Sprite, Diet Coke, and Coca-Cola. Some machines also have Gold Peak Ice Tea. A few Coca-Cola Freestyle machines with more beverage options are available at LottaWatta Lodge.
LottaWatta Lodge
LottaWatta Lodge is the park’s primary quick-service restaurant. It’s at the front of the park and has several Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. At this location, you can use the water cycle to rinse your mug. I usually let the water run for about 30 seconds before I select a beverage to help clean the line from whatever flavor beverage was used previously.
Cooling Hut
Cooling Hut is near the front of the park, across from Frostbite Freddy’s. This walk-up quick service has a standard refill station on the side. A sink is available if you need to rinse your cup.
Avalunch
Avalunch is on the walkway toward the right side of the park between the chairlift and Ski Patrol Training Camp. It has a standard beverage refill station and a sink on the side of the building.
Warming Hut
Warming Hut is on the far left of the park near the Purple Slopes. This location is open seasonally, but the beverage refill station is usually available even if the quick service window is closed.
The Resorts Gal Spin on Refillable Mugs at Disney’s Blizzard Beach
We give refill mugs the green light. Most guests will receive value from the purchase. If you have a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack, you’ll have used it three times, which should be enough to cover the cost. We like to keep ours in the locker until we need it. Of course, if you’ve read any of our articles about the water parks, you know we insist on renting a locker at Blizzard Beach.
