Photos: The Stunning Lobby at Disney's Gran Destino Tower

We were fortunate to stay at Gran Destino Tower within a few weeks of its opening, more than a few years ago. It was part of a split stay between Animal Kingdom Lodge, the tower, and Pop Century. The night before we checked into Gran Destino, a friend invited me to have dinner at Toledo, which is on the resort’s top floor. So I received a sneak peek of the new tower beforehand. I will never forget walking into the lobby for the first time. It was a shock to the senses. Was I really at Disney’s Coronado Springs? It was so white and modern with bright bursts of orange and red tones.

The initial shock wore off quickly, and like so many others, I began to appreciate what the tower added to the resort as a whole. It’s a beautiful hotel with a decked-out lobby. A lobby that, while far past due, is worth having a photo post. So pour a cup of coffee, pretend you’re at Barcelona Lounge, and join me in browsing a few pictures of Gran Destino’s lobby.

The lobby’s entrance sits under the resort’s porte cochère. The glass entrance mimics the curved wall of windows on the backside of the resort.

On each side, you’ll notice a wall of light fixtures, inviting guests home.

Straight ahead, you begin to see that it’s a two-story lobby. A glass balcony allows the eye to look past its barrier.

To your immediate left, you’ll see an area with work stations comprised of long tables with counter-height chairs, lamps, and charging ports. This is a nice space if you need to get some work done on a check-in or check-out day when you’re room might not be available.

Toward the end, you’ll find a small space designated for children.

The areas that wrap around the staircase mirror each other. This sitting area in the photo below shows my favorite place to sit. Armrests define separate sitting areas along the extended sofa and double as built-in charging ports.

The elevator is on the far left side of the lobby, and the tower’s fitness center sits immediately behind it.

If you’re not staying at the hotel, the only reason you would need to access the elevator is for Toledo, Tapas Steak and Seafood, and Dahlia Lounge on the 16th floor. You might also take the elevator down to the first floor.

In the center of the lobby, you can’t help but notice four columns that surround a tremendous light fixture.

Here are a few more photos. This area is for anyone to enjoy. The lounge opens early in the morning for coffee and small breakfast items. Then, they close and open again in the evening for beverages and small plates.

If you’re a Walt Disney fan, you might notice the artwork in the corner.

If the weather is nice enough, you might also enjoy the area immediately outside the lobby on the ground level.

You’ll find a couple of seating areas, and the views of the lake are more than pleasant, especially at sunset.
