Mark Your Calendar: Epcot is Closing Early on July 1st
According to a recent release of park hours, Epcot is scheduled to close early on July 1st. How early? The My Disney Experience app states the park will close at 5:30 p.m. If this date falls within your vacation, you’ll want to plan accordingly. While it’s not uncommon to see a park buyout or private event from time to time, this one falls exceptionally close to the Fourth of July holiday.
As always, we like to remind our readers that there are advantages and disadvantages of visiting a theme park on a date with an early closure. Obviously, the negative factor is that the park closes early. If your time at Epcot is limited to one day, you would miss the evening fireworks like Luminous: The Symphony of Us. You would also miss seeing Epcot light up after dark, especially Spaceship Earth with its charming lighting package.

That said, if you have more than one day to spend at Epcot or have park-hopping entitlements, you might prefer to take advantage of what will likely be lower crowds on this date. With the upcoming holiday, this week might be a little busier than others. We would imagine that with the early closure, Epcot will be exceptionally slow. While there are no guarantees, crowds tend to be significantly lighter on days when the park closes early. Not everyone is willing to use a ticket on a day when the park closes to the general public early. So it’s definitely worth consideration.
We’ll add this update to our July timeline. If you’re visiting Disney World in July, see our timeline for the month. You might also enjoy our overview of how to plan a Disney World vacation.
