How to Find 3 Characters From Disney Pixar's 'Up' at Disney's Animal Kingdom

If you want to meet characters from Disney Pixar’s ‘Up,’ you can do so at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Three beloved characters from the popular film are available in the park daily. However, you might have to do a little searching since one of them roams the park. We recently spent an afternoon at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and were able to see all three of these characters over the course of a couple of hours. Here’s how to find each one!

Russell

As of this update, Russell and Dug meet separately. Russell roams the Discovery Island area throughout the day. We usually see him near the Wilderness Explorer’s kiosk near the front of the park. Make sure to check the My Disney Experience app for his times on the day of your visit.

Kevin

Kevin’s times are usually listed in the My Disney Experience app. She tends to come out several times in the morning, then pauses for a lunch break, and returns intermittently throughout the afternoon. She roams the Discovery Island Trails. She’s usually relatively easy to locate when she is out, given her height and bright coat of feathers.

The Discovery Island Trails start at the top of The Oasis and run down both sides of the Tree of Life. We typically see Kevin come out near the stage for the Viva Gaia Street Band. She tends to roam the area in front of the Tree of Life or travels all the way back to Asia near Yak and Yeti.

Since Kevin is a roaming character, she doesn’t stop for everyone. However, if you ask nicely and she’s able, she might pause for a quick photo. Make sure to have your camera out and ready. Dug

In 2026, Dug returned to the Discovery Island Trails. He meets at this location wearing his talking collar. See our overview of meeting the Talking Dug on the Discovery Island Trails. This location is on the back side of the base of the Tree of Life. It’s near the Galapagos Turtle exhibit. Dug met intermittently throughout the day at this location. The times for this meet-and-greet are listed in the My Disney Experience app. He signs autographs, and a PhotoPass photographer is usually present.
