How Much Does a Disney World Vacation Cost in 2027? Start Here Before Setting Your Budget
How much does a Disney World vacation cost? It’s a simple question, but the answer can be surprisingly difficult to determine. The cost of a trip can vary considerably depending on when you visit, where you stay, how many days you spend in the parks, and how you choose to spend your time.
For most people, a Disney World vacation is a considerable investment. And the truth is, you cannot budget for something if you do not know how much it actually costs. Instead of starting with an arbitrary number and trying to make your vacation work, I recommend starting with a blank slate. First, research your expenses and study them on paper. While doing the legwork, price out the trip you actually want to take. From there, you can determine a budget.
So, what does a Disney World vacation actually cost in 2027? In this guide, we’ll look at the major expenses that make up a Walt Disney World vacation, from your hotel and park tickets to food, transportation, Lightning Lanes, and other extras. The goal is to help you get a realistic idea of what your trip could cost before you set your budget.
Just remember, there is no one-size-fits-all number. For instance, a family staying at a deluxe resort during the holidays will have a very different vacation cost than a family staying at a value resort during a less expensive time of year. What matters is understanding where your money will go and deciding which parts of the experience matter most to you. Once you know what your desired vacation actually costs, you can determine what you’re comfortable spending and trim expenses as needed.

What Does a Week at Disney World Cost?
Before we break down individual expenses, let’s look at how much the cost of a Disney World vacation can vary even when we keep most of the trip the same.
To illustrate how costs can fluctuate throughout the year, we calculated the price of a room-and-ticket package at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside. We priced out one week in the middle of each month from January to October 2027. We used a room-and-ticket package rate before any discounts were applied. Then, we estimated $1500.00 in dining costs for the week.
| Month | Hotel w/ 5-Day Tickets | Dining | Total (Before Tax) |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | $5122.91 | $1500.00 | $6622.91 |
| February | $5706.98 | $1500.00 | $7206.98 |
| March | $5682.24 | $1500.00 | $7182.24 |
| April | $5667.85 | $1500.00 | $7167.85 |
| May | $5134.57 | $1500.00 | $6634.57 |
| June | $5104.64 | $1500.00 | $6604.64 |
| July | $5019.18 | $1500.00 | $6519.18 |
| August | $4510.78 | $1500.00 | $6010.78 |
| September | $4663.83 | $1,500.00 | $6163.83 |
| October | $5666.46 | $1,500.00 | $7166.46 |
Here are a few of the specifics we used for this example.
- Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside is a moderate resort that offers bus transportation to the theme parks and boat service to Disney Springs.
- The price reflected above is for a family of four (two adults and two children aged 3-9 years old).
- The price above includes 7 days and 6 nights with 5 days of standard tickets for each person in the party.
- Our dining estimate assumes the adults will average $500.00 each in dining expenses for the week, and the children will average $250.00 each.
- This estimate does not include transportation to and from Walt Disney World or additional spending.
- Prices shown are before tax, and no discounts have been applied. (You 100% want to take advantage of a room-only discount or a room-and-ticket package offer. For an idea of what to expect, see our list of Disney World Hotel Discounts.)
As you can see, the same basic Disney World vacation can cost considerably more or less depending on when you travel. In this example, the total ranges from $6,010.78 in August to $7,206.98 in February. That’s a difference of nearly $1,200.00 before we’ve even considered transportation, Lightning Lanes, souvenirs, or other extras.
Overall, this example gives us a baseline for a Disney World vacation with moderate lodging, standard park tickets, and a mix of counter-service and table-service dining. Your actual cost could be considerably higher or lower depending on your travel dates, resort, dining choices, and extras.
Once you have an idea of what the trip will cost, you can decide whether the total works for you and where you may want to scale back or spend more. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the individual expenses that can affect your total vacation cost.

The Biggest Factors That Affect Disney World Vacation Costs
The example above gives us an idea of how much a Disney World vacation can cost, but your actual trip could look very different. Even when two families visit for the same number of days, their total expenses can vary by thousands of dollars depending on the choices they make.
Some expenses are easier to estimate than others. Your resort and theme park tickets will generally make up a large portion of the trip. However, transportation, Lightning Lanes, and other extras can vary considerably. Here are the biggest factors to consider when estimating your vacation cost:
- Accommodations: Where you stay is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make when planning your Disney World vacation. Walt Disney World offers Value, Moderate, and Deluxe Resorts, along with Deluxe Villas, and prices can vary considerably between them. But the difference isn’t only the room rate. Your resort can also affect how you get around, where you eat, how convenient it is to take a midday break, and what amenities you have available during your stay. For a resort-focused trip, I think it’s worth considering what you’re actually getting for the additional cost before automatically choosing the least expensive option.
- Theme Park Tickets: The number of park days can significantly affect your total vacation cost. You’ll also need to decide whether standard tickets are enough for your trip or whether options such as a Park Hopper upgrade make sense for your plans. If you’re booking a room-and-ticket package, the ticket cost may already be included in your resort price. With a room-only reservation or an off-site hotel, you’ll need to account for tickets separately.
- Dining: Dining can significantly impact the cost of a Disney World vacation, especially when table service and character meals are involved. A character dining experience can easily cost around $300.00 for a family of four. Snacks and beverages are another often underestimated expense. For example, purchasing four bottled sodas twice a day and two Mickey pretzels once per day can total roughly $60.00 daily with tax. Combined with one character meal, these costs alone could push dining-related expenses to $700.00 or more for the week without accounting for any additional meals. This is an area where your vacation preferences can make a substantial difference in the final cost.
- Transportation: Whether you’re driving, flying, or booking a mix of travel options, transportation is often another large line item. Airfare, rental cars, gas, parking, and even airport transfers should all be factored.
While these are the biggest line items, remember that every choice you make, from souvenirs to Lightning Lanes, can shift your total. So let’s talk about the little things.

The Little Things that Affect Disney World Vacation Costs
It’s no secret that small items can add up fast, especially over the course of a Disney World vacation. So we’ve listed a few of the “little things” you’ll want to consider beforehand:
- Lightning Lanes: If you want to save time and not feel like you stood in line the entire day, you’ll probably want to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Single Pass, and/or a Premier Pass. Prices for these add-ons vary, depending on when you visit.
- Souvenirs: Whether it’s a bubble wand or a brand-new pair of Minnie Ears, someone in your party is going to find something they want. Sometimes it’s a battle of temptation versus willpower, and no one even considers the bank account balance. So if you set a realistic budget for souvenirs, you’re already one step ahead of the game.
- Refillable Mugs: Now we’re a fan of refillable mugs if you’ll use them. We even think they can save some of our readers money on soda at the resorts. That said, they are still an expense you’ll need to account for.
- Extras: There are so many extras that you can add to a Disney World vacation. From seasonal event tickets for holiday parties to experiences like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, the list seems endless. All of these items come with a price, and you’ll want to include that price in your bottom line. For example, tickets for a family of four to the Christmas party could easily cost $650.00 or more!
These are just a few of the smaller expenses that can quietly add up over the course of a Disney World vacation. Every group will see unique costs that fluctuate depending on preferences and priorities, which is why the next step is figuring out what your trip will actually cost.
How Much Will Your Disney World Vacation Cost?
So, how much does a Disney World vacation cost? The answer is that it depends on the vacation you want to take.
Our example of a family of four staying at Port Orleans Riverside shows how a week at Disney World can already range from about $6,000 to more than $7,000 before tax, transportation, Lightning Lanes, souvenirs, and other extras. Change the resort, travel dates, number of park days, dining choices, or length of your stay, and that number can change considerably.
That’s why I don’t think it makes sense to start with a number and try to make your Disney World vacation fit within it. Start by figuring out what you actually want to do. Choose your dates, look at the resorts you’re considering, price your tickets, estimate your food, and add the extras that matter to you. Then you’ll have something much more useful than a generic estimate. You’ll have an idea of what your Disney World vacation will actually cost.
If that number is higher than you expected, you can go back through your plans and decide where you’d like to make changes. Maybe you’ll choose a different resort, shorten your stay, reduce the number of park days, change your dining plans, or skip some of the extras. Or you may decide that certain parts of the trip are important enough to keep.
