New Airlines Added to Airport Luggage Transfer at Disney World
Two new airlines are now eligible for the Airport Luggage Transfer program at Disney World’s value resorts. Both American and United Airlines have joined the already participating Southwest Airlines. This service allows eligible guests to have luggage transferred between the airport and their Disney World Resort Hotel. The addition of two new airlines is a major milestone for the program and a huge benefit for guests traveling on domestic flights to and from the Orlando International Airport (MCO).
Airport Luggage Transfer allows guests to check their luggage at their home airport (for arrivals) and at the resort (for departures). For arrivals, you won’t see your baggage until it’s delivered to your hotel. This means you get to skip baggage claim once you arrive at the Orlando International Airport.
For departures, you can check your luggage at the Airport Luggage Transfer desk at your resort. The company that offers the service, BagCheck, takes care of the rest. For you, this means you can continue with your day. When you arrive at the airport, you can skip the check-in line and go directly through security and on to your gate. You’ll pick up the luggage when your flight lands. It’s so simple, and you won’t have the headache of trying to keep up with everything.

When the luggage program was initially announced last year, it was exclusive to Southwest Airlines and only worked for departures. Then, months later, the pilot program expanded to both arrivals and departures. As of this update, the ALT program remains exclusive to the following value resorts:
- Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s Pop Century Resort
However, now you will have more airport options:
- Southwest Airlines
- United Airlines
- American Airlines
If you would like to learn more about this service or are ready to sign up, you can do so on the ALT Service page on Walt Disney World’s website.
Final Thoughts
We are glad to see this program’s expansion and hope it will eventually be offered at more resorts and to other airlines. In the past, having your luggage taken care of was a tremendous part of the magic. I think most would agree that it was one of the things that set Disney apart from other vacation destinations. Of course, this is only one of many benefits of staying at a Disney Resort.
