Disney’s Polynesian to Magic Kingdom (Options With Time Comparison)
If you’re staying at or visiting Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, you’ll want to know the options for traveling between the resort and the Magic Kingdom. Disney’s Polynesian is only a short monorail or boat ride away from the Most Magical Place on Earth. You can also walk, but that will take longer. However, we aren’t opposed to taking the lengthy journey on foot around Seven Seas Lagoon when the weather is pleasant.
Below, we’ll discuss taking the monorail and resort watercraft to and from the Polynesian and Magic Kingdom. We’ll compare each route’s average time so you can get an idea of how long it takes. I’ve also added the average times it takes to walk.
Route #1: Taking the Monorail from the Polynesian to Magic Kingdom
The monorail station at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is on the 2nd floor of the Great Ceremonial House. The resort monorail takes approximately 8 minutes to reach Magic Kingdom from the Polynesian, including a stop to load and unload guests at Disney’s Grand Floridian.
Return Route: The resort monorail takes approximately 13 minutes to return from Magic Kingdom to the Polynesian. Route #2: Taking the Resort Watercraft Between the Polynesian and Magic Kingdom
Another option for traveling between the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian is the resort watercraft. The boat launch sits behind the Lava Pool at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. After picking up at the Polynesian, the boat travels directly to Magic Kingdom. This route takes approximately 8 minutes.

Route #3: Walking Between the Polynesian and Magic Kingdom
You’ll take the walking path from the Great Ceremonial House at Disney’s Polynesian Village to the Island Tower. From there, you’ll continue on the path to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and then join the walkway to the Magic Kingdom. This route takes us approximately 25 minutes at an average pace. It’s a beautiful place to walk, but it might take a little longer if you’re unfamiliar with the area. Final Thoughts
As you can see, the monorail and the boat take about the same travel time both ways. We think the boat is the most pleasant of the two options. That said, the monorail is fun and offers expansive views of the Magic Kingdom Resorts area. So, if you’re staying at the Polynesian, try both routes to change things up during your stay. Oh, and if you enjoy walking, you can’t beat passing up all the transportation lines at the end of the night and walking from the Magic Kingdom back to the Grand Floridian. Once you get through the congestion around the park, you’ll find it’s the perfect place to decompress as you return to the room.
