Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace Refurbishment Extended Again (Through Mid-December)
The refurbishment of Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been extended again. The outdoor lounge, which has been closed since April 2026, is now expected to remain closed through mid-December. Here is the official updated wording from the Walt Disney World website regarding the new timeline:
Through early 2027, some areas of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are being refurbished. Additionally, some views of the theme parks and other surrounding areas may be impacted. Most Resort dining, pools, and amenities will remain available.
Through mid-December, Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be temporarily closed due to refurbishment work at the Great Ceremonial House.
While construction activity will be noticeable during daytime hours, efforts will be made to minimize disruptions. Please allow for extra travel time when arriving at or leaving the Resort.
The latest extension comes as work continues on the exterior of the resort’s Great Ceremonial House. The main building has undergone major refurbishment for much of the year, and the project is now expected to continue into early 2027.

Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace Refurbishment History
Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace first closed for refurbishment in April 2026. We began documenting the closure and what guests could expect in our original update, Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace Temporarily Closed. The refurbishment was later extended through late October. We covered that change in our follow-up report, Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace Refurbishment Extended.
The closure has now been extended through mid-December. The additional time comes amid a larger refurbishment project at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The exterior of the Great Ceremonial House has undergone significant work, and the resort’s refurbishment timeline has been extended through early 2027.
You may remember we shared a photo report in June of the Poly’s refurbishment progress. That report included photos of work on the Great Ceremonial House, the newly refurbished boat dock, and the bus stop.
Final Thoughts
Hopefully, work on the Great Ceremonial House will wrap up by mid-December, and we can see Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace return ahead of the holidays. Time will tell. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, the interior bar, remains open during this time. Guests can also purchase cocktails and other beverages from a variety of other bars and lounges at the resort. You can preview those in our Polynesian Village Resort Restaurant Guide.
With so many notices in recent years, we’ve created a timeline of all refurbishments at Disney’s Polynesian. For a complete list of refurbishments across all resorts, see our Disney Hotel Refurbishment Schedule.
