Disney’s Contemporary Resort’s Bus System (Schedule, Stops, and Average Travel Times)
When you stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, one of the benefits is having complimentary bus service to and from select theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. While you’ll find multiple transportation options at the resort, some destinations require a bus ride. So for this article, we’ll focus specifically on the bus system, including average travel times, internal bus stops, and what to expect during your stay.
For reference, those staying at Disney’s Contemporary can access three forms of complimentary transportation from the resort: the monorail, buses, and boats. (You can also walk to Magic Kingdom from this resort!) Regarding the buses, you’ll need to take them when visiting Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs. It’s also important to know that the Contemporary shares bus service to these destinations with Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. You’ll be the last stop on the way to the parks, so you’ll have an extra stop on the return trip. This is how the routes work:
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (1st Stop)
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort (2nd Stop)
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom (Destination)
on the return trip
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom (Board Bus)
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (1st Stop)
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort (Destination)
*Extra buses usually service both resorts around rope drop, first thing in the morning. So, you might not always have that extra stop.
The Contemporary’s bus stop sits near the resort’s front entrance under a partially covered waiting area with a couple of benches. This is also where the walkway that extends to Magic Kingdom begins. If you’re unsure, a sign by the bus stop lists your options. (Note the resort boat service is not listed because it’s only available after 3:00 p.m. and travels to neighboring Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness.)

Here are our bus travel times from Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It’s important to note that these times do not include how long we waited for the bus. Wait times signs are available at the resort bus stop, indicating when the next bus will arrive. The times below are how long it takes to get from the resort to the destination. They are the average of several trips and do not consider extenuating circumstances like significant traffic.
