Photos: Christmas Decorations and Tree Arrive at Magic Kingdom to Kick Off Holiday Season
It’s the most wonderful time of the year at Magic Kingdom. Christmas decorations have arrived over the past week, and we’ve been in the park a few times to check out the progress. We’ll start with a few photos from a visit on Sunday, November 2nd, when the first decorations made their debut. Typically, the Most Magical Place on Earth has an overnight transition from Halloween to Christmas. But this year, Disney made a last-minute announcement that decorations wouldn’t start to go up until the second day of the month. When we arrived that morning, we found the front of the park decorated with holiday trim.

This will be a mainly photo post of the initial Christmas decorations. We hope to photograph all the parks and put together a few more detailed photo guides in the coming weeks.

After entering the park, we headed up to the train station to take in the view. As you can see, the Christmas tree was not installed quite yet. In fact, the decorations looked a little sparse.

If you look closely, you can see that the festive garland boughs were in place on all the store shops.

Since the Omnibus was out, we hopped on it for a closer look at the decorations. Here are a few photos taken from the upper level.

Once our full circle trip was complete, I hopped off and continued my photo stroll up Main Street, U.S.A.

We returned to Magic Kingdom on Thursday evening (the 6th) to see what had changed. It was a cloudy evening and not the best time for taking festive photos before dark. We were happy to find, though, that the park had been fully decorated! The toy soldiers were out, the Christmas tree was up, and the background music was delightful!

It was that stark change we were hoping to find! Pure Christmas magic.

Unfortunately, we ended up having to leave a little earlier than expected. But here is a photo taken from our walk out of the park before the evening parade. We’ll hopefully be back soon for a few more evening photos and have plans to attend Mickey’s Christmas Party next week!

I hope you enjoyed the photos! For more on what to expect during the holidays, see our 2025 Disney World Christmas Planning Guide.
