Photos: Disney’s Fort Wilderness Pool Expansion Project in Late October
Last June, Disney announced a pool expansion was taking place at Disney’s Fort Wilderness. It wasn’t necessarily a surprise because work had already begun to clear the new construction site. The announcement only confirmed that the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool area would be expanded with the addition of a zero-entry pool and new deck area. Here’s the exact wording from the Disney Parks Blog announcement, regarding the new pool at Disney’s Fort Wilderness:
A brand-new zero-entry pool and deck area is being added alongside the existing pool, effectively doubling the space for guests to enjoy. The expansion will also include a tennis court and two pickleball courts, giving families even more ways to play together in the great outdoors.

On a recent visit to Fort Wilderness, we walked the majority of the resort to photograph the Halloween decorations at the campsites. During our walk, we took a few photos of what we could see from the outskirts of the pool area. While the existing pool area remains open, you’ll have to enter it from the area immediately behind The Meadow Trading Post. All other sides of the pool area are blocked by construction zones. Here is the official construction notice from Disney’s website:
Beginning early May 2025, construction will take place near the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool area. The Meadow Swimmin’ Pool and Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool will remain open for Guests to enjoy. During this time, seating availability around the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool may be limited, and Guests may see or hear construction in the area. Guests using bus transportation should follow posted signage to reach the pool area.

From the pool area, you can see the tops of two structures that are currently being constructed in the former lawn behind The Meadow Swimmin’ Pool.

As we continued toward the clover (loops 1600 through 1900), we were able to see the construction from the outskirts.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t really see the shape of the pool, but it looks like substantial work is taking place.

It will be interesting to see what these two buildings offer when the area is complete. One building will likely offer an updated restroom and changing area. However, that’s purely speculation because no specific details, other than the statements Disney has shared above, have been announced.

If you stay in the area, you’ll see plenty of directional signs on how to access the pool area while construction is taking place.

Here are a few more photos.

Overall, we think the new pool will be a wonderful addition to the charming resort and campground. For more on Disney’s Fort Wilderness, you might like the following:
