Photos: New Window Displays at the Contemporary’s BVG for Halloween
Let’s say you decide to visit Disney’s Contemporary Resort and take the monorail over from Magic Kingdom. After arriving, you exit the monorail and take the escalator down to the Grand Concourse, where you immediately run into the BVG. The BVG is short for Bay View Gifts, the gift shop at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Not only do we consider it one of the best gift shops among the Disney Resorts, but it also has this cool feature that you may or may not have ever noticed. That feature is the ever-changing window displays.
Every year for Halloween, the BVG gets new decorative window wraps. This year, the wraps feature Mickey and Minnie Mouse pumpkins. On our visit yesterday, we saw a giant Mickey Mouse jack-o-lantern surrounded by smaller ones. The center reads “Happy Halloween,” and the far right side has a haunted castle.
On the opposite side of the main entrance, we find a giant Minnie Mouse-shaped jack-o-lantern. Her green bow is made of pumpkin leaves!

To give you a little backstory, this side of Disney’s Contemporary Resort faces Bay Lake. The back of the store has large windows that face out to the lake, offering stunning views. Hence the name, Bay View Gifts. Unfortunately, most of the windows these days are covered by merchandise displays. So it’s not necessarily as peaceful a place to shop as it once was.
Anyway, I assume the front walls of the store were originally all glass so guests could take in the views of the lake, even from outside the shop. If you’re ever visiting, you might check out the latest window wraps. They are always fun and usually feature classic Disney characters.
On a side note, if you’re ever looking for an item that’s hard to find, you might have good luck at this shop. For instance, we saw a few pieces of the Cutie Ghost Collection here on our visit yesterday. I’ve visited numerous shops over the last week, and this is the only place I’ve seen it. Of course, there are no guarantees you’ll find what you’re looking for, but I’ve had more good luck here than anywhere else through the years.
