Disney Springs Expands Security Screenings to Resort Hotel Bus Area
On a recent visit to Disney Springs via a resort hotel bus, we noticed that a security screening area had been added just beyond the drop-off point. Previously, guests staying at a resort hotel or traveling to Disney Springs by a resort hotel bus would bypass the security efforts when visiting the venue.
Security checkpoints were already in place at each of the venue’s parking decks and at the entrances near walking paths, boat docks, and car-service drop-off locations. Now, all guests visiting Disney Springs will have to pass through a metal detector. Security usually mentions that guests should have any umbrellas or glass cases held out in front of them when walking through the screening area. From our experience, this will help reduce the chance of getting pulled for an individual bag screening. Of course, sometimes those things happen, and the process typically only takes a few extra minutes.

For reference, all Disney Resort Hotels offer bus transportation to Disney Springs. Select resorts offer an additional walking path and/or boat services. If you’re trying to eliminate walking, we always recommend taking the option that’s closest to the destination, especially if you’re only visiting for a dining reservation. For instance, on this visit, we were staying at Port Orleans French Quarter and visiting Disney Springs to pick up lunch from The Polite Pig. So instead of taking the boat to Disney Springs, we took the bus, which dropped us off at Town Center, only a short walk from the restaurant.
