Photos: The Caribbean Cay Playground at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

If you’re planning an upcoming stay at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, you might want to be aware of the resort’s playground. The playground itself is part of Caribbean Cay, an island sitting in the middle of Barefoot Bay. To access the island, you’ll need to take the bridge. Its main access point is at Old Port Royale or across the lake in the Jamaica section of the resort.

Per signage, the playground is designed for guests ages 2 to 12 years old. There is also a reminder that surfaces on the playground might be hot. That said, we like this playground because it offers some shade over both apparatuses. It also has a softer cork flooring, which is a nice touch. Here are a few photos. As mentioned above, this playground is centrally located near Old Port Royale. So if you’re staying at the resort, you might enjoy taking advantage of it on a resort day or anytime you’re visiting the lobby area for dining, shopping, or other recreation activities.

If you’re staying next door at Disney’s Riviera Resort and are looking to enjoy a leisurely walk around the lake, the playground is a fun place to stop and let children play. As for other resorts, we wouldn’t recommend going out of the way to access this particular playground unless you’re on a Skyliner Resort hop or just happen to be in the area. Most resorts have their own playground. We have a list of resorts with playgrounds if you want to locate the one where you’re staying.

Overall, the playground at Disney’s Caribbean Beach isn’t necessarily a feature we’d go out of the way to see. It is, however, a great place to let children burn off a little energy, and sometimes that’s exactly what’s needed after a long travel day or a couple of days spent standing in long lines in the theme parks.
