The Christmas Season at Disney World (Events and Tips Guide for 2026)
The Christmas holiday season is undeniably one of the most magical (and merriest) times to visit Walt Disney World. That said, other than a few small windows within the two-month timeframe, it’s also the busiest. We’re talking major crowds, lines galore, and long waits for almost anything. On the flip side, everywhere you look, you’ll find festive decorations, cheerful cast members, and holiday tunes playing in the background. I can hear those gentle bells ringing on Main Street U.S.A. just thinking about it all.
As for a vacation to Disney World during Christmas, a few other things are worth mentioning. The weather is warm (usually) but not miserable, you’re not at work, and the people you love the most are by your side. If not, I hope they are with you in spirit. That’s tough, but it’s a reality for many of us.
On a positive note, you’re in for a treat because the holidays are extraordinary. To help you plan, we update this ultimate holiday planning guide each year. It features all of the major offerings. We also update guides for each park, the resorts as a whole, and Disney Springs. Those individual guides are like chapters in a book, and we’ve listed them below in each section. They will help you find the little things, like special holiday treats, where to meet Santa, and where to find the best holiday decorations.
As for enjoying the festivities, you’ll need an admission ticket for anything at a theme park. If you’re planning to attend a party, you’ll have two options, each requiring separate tickets. (Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Jollywood Nights) We touch on those more below. We also try to provide an idea of holiday-related things you can do at select resorts. A holiday resort hop is one of our favorites. Lastly, we’ll discuss the holidays at Disney Springs, which won’t require admission.
Our best advice is to review what’s available, pick a few must-dos for you and your travel party, and build them into your itinerary. If this is your first visit, or you already have a long list of things to do that go hand in hand with a regular park day, don’t worry. You can skip the holiday stuff, except for seeing the decorations as you come and go. You’ll still have a wonderful time.
Below, you’ll find everything you can expect for visiting Disney World during the 2026 holiday season. Please note that we will continually update this guide as items are announced.

Dates for the 2026 Holiday Season at Disney World
Each year, holiday season dates at Disney World change slightly. This year’s most merriest celebration will officially last from November 13th through January 6th. Disney announced the official 2026 holiday dates back in July. With a few exceptions, most holiday offerings will be in place by November 13th. Those exceptions include:
- The Jingle Cruise (a special holiday overlay of the Jungle Cruise) starts on November 3rd.
- At Magic Kingdom, most holiday decorations will be in place by November 8th, which is the night of the first Christmas Party.
- At Hollywood Studios, most holiday decorations will be in place by November 7th, which is the night of the first Jollywood Nights party.
- Magic Kingdom’s Christmas Parade is scheduled to be filmed at Magic Kingdom on the afternoons of November 10th and 11th. This is a rare opportunity to see the parade outside of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
- Most holiday offerings at Epcot will not start until the day after Thanksgiving, when the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays begins.
Now, let’s take a look at what to expect at each of the four theme parks and resorts.
Magic Kingdom at Christmas
The Most Magical Place on Earth always knows how to celebrate the holidays! As mentioned above, you’ll hear familiar holiday tunes as soon as you step onto Main Street U.S.A. We always enjoy walking up to the train station to take in the park’s exquisite holiday views.
While holiday decor can be found throughout most of the park, Main Street U.S.A. is the primary place to get that real holiday feel. If your main purpose for visiting is to enjoy the holiday offerings, we recommend spending an hour or more taking it all in on Main Street. You might even see the Dapper Dans perform a few Christmas tunes while wearing their holiday attire. Their showtimes are listed in the My Disney Experience app.
While you’re soaking up the holiday spirit, stop in the Confectionery for a seasonal treat. The only tough decision is what to try. Don’t get me started on the create-your-own popcorn options at the back of the store. They have special holiday flavors!
As for planning time at this park, there’s too much to cover in one place, so we’ve created a separate holiday guide for Magic Kingdom. A few highlights include:
Frozen Holiday Surprise: This magical stage show happens every evening after sunset and serves as the castle lighting ceremony. It features Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf from Frozen. This is a great way to start a holiday evening at Magic Kingdom.
Jingle Cruise: This classic Jungle Cruise attraction normally features a holiday overlay with more festive skippers than usual! Make sure to take time for a ride on this Adventureland attraction. The Jingle Cruise is set to return to Magic Kingdom on November 3, 2026.
Santa Claus Meet-and-Greet: Santa usually meets during regular park hours at Magic Kingdom from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve. His listing will be available in the My Disney Experience app.
Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is exclusive to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, with two exceptions. The parade is typically offered a couple of times in early November when it’s filmed for ABC’s Christmas Day special. This happens after the Christmas decorations are installed. As noted above, the parade is scheduled for filming on November 10th and 11th in 2026.
The parade is also typically offered the week between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day. We’ll know more details if and when the parade is added to the park’s schedule. Last year, the parade ran twice daily from December 22nd through December 31st in place of the Festival of Fantasy Parade. For an idea of what to expect, we have a video of last year’s daytime Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.
Park Decorations: Main Street U.S.A., Fantasyland, Liberty Square, and Frontierland all offer exquisite holiday decor! We have photo posts from last year highlighting the park’s decorations. See the following for more details:

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
While Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is held at Magic Kingdom, we’re listing it separately because it’s a seasonal event. Guests visiting during the holiday season should be aware of party nights and plan their days and evenings around them. We love the Christmas Party and have attended it for years. But if it doesn’t work for your budget, you can still enjoy the other holiday offerings in the parks. We cover the party exclusively in our guide to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Epcot
Most of Epcot’s holiday offerings tie back to the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays. This year’s festival runs from November 27th through December 30th. Typically, Epcot stays open until 9:30 p.m. during the holiday season, but that has changed this year. Epcot is scheduled to close at 9:00 p.m. throughout the 2026 holiday season, with the evening fireworks set to begin at 9:15 p.m. This means attraction lines will close at 9:00, giving guests a few extra minutes to find a viewing spot for the evening fireworks.
Here are a few highlights of the Festival:
2026 Holiday Kitchen Menus: The festival features traditional food booths, along with other events and entertainment. The food booths, called Holiday Kitchens, offer a variety of items from their country of origin. As you stroll through the World Showcase, you can sample festive dishes and seasonal beverages.
2026 Holiday Cookie Stroll: This paid activity lets guests purchase a selection of cookies. After acquiring a stamp for select cookie purchases, guests can receive a complimentary prize.
Holiday Storytellers: During the Festival of the Holidays, most countries offer Holiday Storytellers. These special representatives, often Santas, share their country’s holiday traditions.
Epcot’s Candlelight Processional is held each evening during the Festival of the Holidays. Each event offers celebrity narrators. We have a list of celebrity narrators for 2026 along with details for the 2026 Candlelight Processional dining package.
Santa Goofy: Santa Goofy will have a special meet-and-greet in Epcot’s Odyssey Pavilion.
Santa Claus will have a traditional meet-and-greet location at Epcot again this year. He will be meeting guests at CommuniCore Hall throughout the Festival of the Holidays. His time will be listed in the My Disney Experience app.
Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Scavenger Hunt: This extra-cost activity includes a small prize. We like to buy a scavenger hunt and complete it as we tour the park. It offers a fun way for children to get involved in touring the World Showcase.
Joyful, a gospel R&B group, performs during the Festival. They will perform in CommuniCore Plaza, featuring a mix of classic songs and updated arrangements. They are truly a joy to see. Check the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit for showtimes.
The Voices of Liberty will perform as Dickens’ Carolers in the American Adventure Pavilion.
Spaceship Earth Gingerbread Display: This creative display presented by Citizen is a must-see! The display lights up every 15 minutes, featuring a song and light show that adds just the right touch of holiday flair.
As far as rides, Living with the Land’s Glimmering Greenhouses has become one of our top must-dos during the holiday season at Walt Disney World. This seasonal overlay brings the attraction to life in a new light–Christmas lights! Ride it at night for the full effect. (We usually ride it a couple of times per visit!) This location will also offer a special 2026 Glimmering Greenhouses Behind the Seeds Tour during the holiday season. The tour costs extra and must be reserved in advance.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is one of three Disney World attractions getting a holiday soundtrack in 2026. The soundtrack and special effects are expected to be available starting November 25, 2026, through January 6, 2027.
See our 2026 Epcot Festival of the Holidays guide to learn more about the holiday happenings at Epcot. It offers a complete overview of festival offerings to help you plan.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Over the years, Hollywood Studios has become our favorite park at Christmas because of its stunning decorations. It feels like stepping back in time to Tinseltown. The park is frosted with vintage decor, twinkling lights, and pops of color. Holiday projectors and faux snow blowers work together to make the park every bit as magical as you can imagine. Here’s what Disney has in store for this season!
Sunset Seasons Greetings: This nighttime projection show on the Hollywood Tower Hotel happens multiple times each evening! It’s simple to see and a holiday must!
Special Ending to Frozen Sing-Along Celebration: This attraction, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, ends with a special holiday moment featuring Olaf. It is one of our favorites.
Meet Toy Story Characters in Christmas Outfits: Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear wear special holiday accessories at Hollywood Studios during the Christmas season. Find them in Toy Story Land.
2026 Holiday Rides Overlays at Disney World: The following rides will offer special soundtracks for the holidays:
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Obligatory Holiday Overlay: November 4, 2026, through January 6, 2027
- Alien Swirling Saucers: Lilypad’s Jams: November 4, 2026, through January 6, 2027
Minnie’s Holiday Dine at Hollywood and Vine: You’ll want a reservation for this character meal. If you love classic characters (Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto), it’s a great chance to see them in holiday outfits. This year’s holiday dine runs from November 4, 2026 to January 6, 2027.
Santa Claus Meet-and-Greet at Walt Disney Presents: Santa Claus is meeting guests at Walt Disney Presents, and it’s a lot of fun. If you have time, stop by to see Santa and take a photo with him.
See our guide to Christmas at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for details on all these offerings. It’s been updated with photos of the park’s seasonal decor and more!

Disney Jollywood Nights
Like Magic Kingdom’s Christmas Party, Jollywood Nights is a separate, ticketed event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The park closes a little earlier than usual on party evenings, so plan your park days accordingly. For more, see our overview of what to expect at Disney Jollywood Nights.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
We love the decorations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom almost as much as Hollywood Studios. If you’re hoping to see unique decor, don’t miss Discovery Island and Africa. Here are a few of the other holiday happenings that typically take place in the park:
Merry Menagerie: This talented group of puppeteers wields artisan, hand-crafted puppets designed to look like Arctic animals. They are beautiful and always such a surprise to unsuspecting guests.
Santa’s Holiday Grove: Have a jolly visit with Santa Claus at his new location! Venture across from Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! at Theater in the Wild to find a magical trail with intermittent snow flurries and Santa himself.
Tree of Life Awakenings: The Tree of Life Awakenings show transitions to a special holiday version. All you have to do is walk up to the Tree of Life anytime between sunset and the park’s closing to see it. The show happens about every 10-15 minutes. We like to watch it a couple of times on our way out.
Meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse in Holiday Attire: During the holiday season, you can find Mickey and Minnie Mouse in holiday outfits at Adventurer’s Outpost. They wear special accessories to jazz up their safari suits.
See our guide to Christmas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom for photos of decorations and more specifics of these offerings.

Disney Resort Hotels
We could write a book on the resort hotels at Disney World during the holidays! Every resort hotel has unique decorations, some more elaborate than others. A few of the resorts typically have extravagant gingerbread displays in their lobbies. Here are the resorts that offered displays last year:
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
- Disney’s Beach Club Resort
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (small display)
Unfortunately, Disney has announced that the traditional life-size gingerbread display at Grand Floridian will not return in 2026. Until we know more, check out our guide to the best Disney World resorts for Christmas. It includes our top choices and tips for planning a holiday resort hop!

Disney Springs
As you can probably imagine, Disney Springs gets busy during the holiday season. Major happenings often include a Santa Claus meet-and-greet and the Christmas Tree Stroll. Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar will also have a special holiday overlay called Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar.
As you walk through the venue, expect a winter wonderland atmosphere with toy soldier stilt walkers, snowflake rollerbladers, a holiday drum line, and a brass band playing holiday tunes! With so many things to do, it can get overwhelming. See our guide with things to do at Disney Springs during the holiday season. It includes free and paid recreation offerings, plus tips on managing crowds.

Santa Claus
Santa Claus typically has a meet-and-greet in all four theme parks and at Disney Springs each holiday season. So far we know the following:
- Magic Kingdom: Typically doesn’t start until after Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve.
- Epcot: Meet Santa at CommuniCore Hall, starting November 27th.
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Meet Santa at Walt Disney Presents
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Meet Santa at Santa’s Holiday Grove (New in 2026)
- Disney Springs: Meet Santa (TBD)

Christmas Merchandise
Each year, Disney launches a new holiday merchandise collection. It includes apparel, accessories, home items, and more.

Christmas Food and Beverages
If you’re looking for food and beverage items this holiday season, look no further. You’ll have a plethora of treats to choose from, whether it’s a specialty shake or a giant cookie with holiday frosting! We’ll have more details when Disney makes the announcements.

Final Thoughts
As always, Christmas is a special time to visit Disney World. Just remember you don’t have to experience every holiday offering to enjoy the season. From the decorations along Main Street, U.S.A., to the festive atmosphere at the resort hotels, you can enjoy the holidays at your own pace.
If you’re planning a visit, review the seasonal offerings ahead of time and decide which experiences matter most to you. Special events, holiday entertainment, and seasonal treats can add to your vacation, but it’s also worth leaving room to enjoy the little things along the way. Keep in mind that some offerings require separate event tickets, and schedules can change as Disney releases additional details.
