Review: Queso Fries from Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe at Magic Kingdom
It doesn’t take long to build up an appetite when you’re spending the day at Magic Kingdom. Sure, there are snack stands and carts galore, but sometimes you’re in the mood for something a little more savory that isn’t necessarily a full meal. That’s where the Queso Fries from Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe come into play. These off-the-beaten-path cheese fries have become my number one snack at Magic Kingdom, and they are too good not to know about.

You may remember we first tried the Pecos Bill Queso Fries back last Fall, when we reviewed Tiana’s Beignets and compared a couple of orders of fries in the Frontierland area. I’ll save you the trouble…the beignets are not that great. But these cheese-y fries? I can’t even visit Magic Kingdom without thinking, should I place an order for them?
Speaking of placing an order, here’s what you need to know. The Queso Fries are listed in the mobile order section of the My Disney Experience app under the menu for Pecos Bill. All you have to do is place your order and pick them up. You don’t even have to worry about waiting in a long line. From our experience, they are typically ready in less than 10 minutes. They were priced at $6.99 on our last visit.
However, if you’re a picky eater and aren’t sure about the extra toppings, there’s good news. You can wait in line and order the fries with only the queso sauce. They won’t add the extra crumble cheese or pico de gallo topping. As far as taste goes, the fries have a slightly mild kick, but there isn’t any heat. They are a standard quick-service style of fries topped with a generous helping of queso and toppings.

Now, if you’re a fan of fries, you might also want to try a few other options on your next vacation. We haven’t had a chance to try the new poutine fries that recently debuted at the new La Poutinerie at Epcot yet, but they are on my list. Another favorite is the loaded crab fries from Hurricane Hanna’s, which are truly delicious if you’re in the Epcot Resorts Area.

Overall, we enjoy the queso fries at Pecos Bill immensely, and I’m so glad that we noticed them on the menu last year. We’ve enjoyed more than a handful of orders since then. Now, if you’re looking for something sweet, don’t miss the creme brulee croissant at Gaston’s Tavern. The croissant paired with the ham and Gruyere sandwich has become one of our favorite quick service meals! Whatever you decide to try, we hope you’ll enjoy!
