Recreation at Disney’s Riviera Resort
If you have an upcoming visit to Disney’s Riviera Resort, you might want to be aware of what recreation activities are available. This resort offers an extensive activity schedule with free and extra-cost items. Most of the resort’s recreational activities are open to all guests, whether you’re staying at the resort or not. That said, standard amenities like the resort’s pool, pool deck activities, and fitness center are only for paid guests who are staying at the resort.
Additionally, if you plan to do an activity like the Painting on the Riviera Class, you might want to secure advanced reservations because spots are limited. We’ve noted specifics on those items below. You can use the following table to quickly locate details for any recreational activity, or keep reading for an idea of everything available. Enjoy!
Riviera Recreation Calendar
Here is the resort’s recreation calendar for Cool Kid Summer in 2026. Please note that these calendars are updated about once every 2-3 months. We expect the following calendar to be available through the end of Cool Kid summer, which ends on September 8, 2026.

You can find the most updated calendar here on Disney’s website. When you open that link, you’ll see the activity schedule section with a place to view or download a PDF of the current month’s calendar. Here’s a screenshot of what it will look like.

Schedules and availability may vary. Check the monthly recreation calendar at the resort for exact times.
Recreation Activities at Disney’s Riviera Resort
Below, we’ve shared details about some of the activities at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Please note that while many of these activities are long-standing, they could change from time to time. While we visit the resorts regularly, we are not there every single month. If you notice a change on your next visit that’s not listed in our guide or see something that’s been discontinued, feel free to leave a comment or contact us.
Find a Friend (Character Hunt)
Every day, cast members place a cardboard cutout of Pascal somewhere around the lobby. Once you find him, head to the Eventi Room to receive a prize. Typically, guests will receive a button or stickers. If you’re staying at the resort and have some extra time, you could search for Pascal each day! The Eventi Room is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Nature Walk
If you stop in the Eventi Room, you can pick up a copy of the Nature Guide. This self-guided walk offers several games and a nature spotting guide. The pamphlet also has a few fun facts about Disney’s Riviera and Caribbean Beach Resorts. As you walk around the lake, you can use the guide to help look for a variety of vegetation and a few animals. For instance, you might see a Marsh Rabbit or Birds of Paradise flowers. Oh, and don’t forget to stop and see the Purple Martins. They usually nest at the resorts between February and June.

The Eventi Room
We’ve mentioned the Eventi Room a few times already, but note that it’s open most days between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. This activity center is located on the resort’s lower level, around the corner from Primo Piatto.
For arts and crafts, you can stop in the Eventi Room on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., or on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. This location has a good variety of arts and crafts. As always, double-check the times on your visit.

Pools
This resort is home to two pools. The Riviera is the resort’s feature pool, and the Beau Soleil pool is the secondary pool. At the feature pool, you’ll find a whirlpool spa, a tower waterslide, a zero-entry area, and the S’il Vous Play aquatic play area. We have a separate guide with photos and amenities for all of Disney’s Riviera Resort Pools. Remember that the pool areas are gated and only accessible to guests who are staying at the resort.
Poolside Activities
Poolside activities are held daily on the Riviera Feature Pool Deck. Recreation cast members host fun games and Disney trivia both in and out of the pool. This recreational offering typically takes place between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Opening Regatta
Each morning, cast members gather around the Riviera pool for the morning Regatta Race. This happens approximately 15 minutes before the pool opens. Crews assemble to see who has the fastest ship in the Mediterranean. From our experience, a couple of younger guests are selected to launch small boats into the water. After the race, the pool opens for the day.

Côte d’Azur Campfire
This activity is the nightly marshmallow roast at Disney’s Riviera Resort. It typically takes place between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the fire pit that faces Barefoot Bay. This is to the right back side of the Riviera Pool (outside the pool gates). Marshmallows are complimentary, but Mickey S’mores kits are also available for purchase if you want to do something a little extra.

Nighttime Trivia
Think you know a lot about Disney? Test your knowledge on select evenings with a little trivia. This event is usually held from Sunday through Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Riviera Courtyard.
Starlight Soiree
Typically held on Saturday nights, this after-dark poolside party invites guests to enjoy fun and games both in and out of the pool. (Hours are usually from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., but might shift based on the time of year. Always check the current calendar posted at the resort for availability and exact dates and times.) This offering is held at the Riviera Pool Deck.
Movies Under the Stars
Who doesn’t love an outdoor movie night under the stars at their Disney Resort? This event typically happens on Sunday through Friday evenings. Please note that the times change throughout the year based on the sunset. So if you visit in July, the move will be offered later than if you visit in December. The movies and times are listed on the recreation calendar, which is posted in multiple locations around the resort. This event is held on the Movie Lawn (pictured below), which is directly behind the Riviera Pool.

Recreation Activities That Cost Extra at Disney’s Riviera Resort
In addition to free activities, some items will have a price tag. Currently, the resort is offering two extra-cost activities.
Art de la Mosaïque
If you would like to create your own mosaic art, you can do so at Disney’s Riviera Resort. This instructor-led class is often held on Sundays and Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Eventi Room is closed to all other guests during the class. This mosaic crafting class cost $30.00 on our last visit. Here are a few examples of the mosaic creations.

Painting on the Riviera
This instructor-led experience is offered in the Eventi Room on Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Eventi Room is closed to all other guests during the class. Note that paintings do change from time to time. The image below shows a silhouette of Prince Eric and Ariel in the “Kiss the Girl” scene from The Little Mermaid.
At publish time, the cost of this class is $45.00. Advanced reservations are recommended. You can make them by calling 407-WDW-PLAY or by signing up with a cast member at the Eventi Room.

Other Paid Activities (Small Fee)
Here are a few other paid activities that were available on our last visit:
- Animation Cel ($5.00)
- Small Canvas ($5.00)
- Coaster ($5.00)
- Sugar Scrub ($10.00)
- Large Ceramic ($10.00)

Fitness
Since Disney’s Riviera Resort is a deluxe villa class resort, it offers a gym or fitness center. You’ll also find jogging trails that extend from Riviera to Disney’s Caribbean Beach.
Athlétique Fitness Center
The resort’s fitness center is located on the ground level near the Beau Soleil quiet pool. It’s a smaller gym, but you’ll find everything you need for a cardio or weight-lifting session. The fitness center is open 24 hours, but you will need your Magic Band, Disney Magic Mobile, or Keys to the World card to access the center.
Jogging Trail
Disney’s Riviera is one of the many resorts that offer a jogging trail. We’ve posted a map of the trail below. If you follow the route, it’s a total of 1.22 miles. However, if you prefer a longer route, you can extend your run through the entirety of Disney’s Caribbean Beach.

Yoga and Fitness Runs
From time to time, we see fitness runs and family yoga classes at select resorts. The fun run at Riviera was called the Topolino Trot. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any fun runs in more recent years. That said, always keep your eyes open for new or returning extras. You can also ask the recreation cast members about availability or express interest in potential future offerings.
Other Activities Around the Resort
One of the things I love about Disney’s Riviera Resort is the courtyard lawn. Most days, you’ll find plenty of things to do here. For example, one area of the lawn features a Bocce Ball Court. You’ll also find other activities like giant chess and checker sets. You might even run into a game of old-fashioned croquet!

The resort also offers a white-sand beach. Unfortunately, this resort does not offer a playground. If you have children who need to burn off a little energy (but not get wet at the splash pad), you can walk around to Caribbean Cay, the island at Disney’s Caribbean Beach. We have photos of the playground here if you would like to learn more. It has cork flooring, so you won’t have to worry about dragging sand back to the room.

Take a Self-Guided Art Tour
When the Riviera first opened, the resort offered a pamphlet with a self-guided tour of the artwork at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Unfortunately, the pamphlet hasn’t been available on our last couple of visits. So during our last stay, I went through and photographed the items that were formerly highlighted in the tour. Many of the paintings are located in the corridors leading to the rooms. But some are in more open spaces like the lobby and lower levels.
You might also enjoy checking out the Peter Pan Mosaic Mural and the Tangled Mosaic Mural that serves as an entrance area between the resort and the Skyliner station.

Self-Guided Scavenger Hunts
We’ve seen a few self-guided scavenger hunts available at Disney’s Riviera Resort through the years. You can ask a recreation cast member at the Eventi Room if they have a copy. (They may or may not still be available.)
- Riviera Resort Scavenger Hunt
- Skyliner Rally Scavenger Hunt
Bonus: Surprise Resort Characters
While not a guarantee, you might run into surprise characters at Disney’s Riviera Resort. We dine at Primo Piatto pretty often for lunch, and I’ve run into a couple of characters while coming and going. Surprise characters are just that: surprises. If you run into them, consider yourself lucky. They do visit all of the resorts regularly, but they are not on a published schedule.

Final Thoughts
We hope you found this guide helpful in planning your recreational activities at Disney’s Riviera Resort. We think it’s one of the best Disney World resorts to stay at if you’re looking to enjoy a plush hotel feel. If you do decide to stay here, stop by the Eventi Room early on and talk to the cast member about what’s available during your visit. They are always good at showing guests around and familiarizing them with their options. The recreation cast members do a phenomenal job with both children and parents.
