Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace Temporarily Closed for Refurbishment Work
If you have plans to visit Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in the near future, you’ll want to be aware of another new refurbishment notice. The resort’s popular outdoor lounge, Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace, will be closed from mid-April through late June as work continues on the Great Ceremonial House. Here is the official wording of the announcement from Disney:
From mid‑April through late June, Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be temporarily closed due to refurbishment work at the Grand Ceremonial House. Guests may see or hear refurbishment work during daytime hours until the work is complete.
Walt Disney World Statement

We’ve spent some time at the Polynesian in recent weeks and noticed a good deal of scaffolding around areas of the Great Ceremonial House. During one visit, the outdoor seating area for Capt. Cook’s was completely closed. We found extra tables and chairs set up out on the lawn near the fenced aquatic play area.
You may also remember that Disney posted a notice that the Polynesian’s boat dock would temporarily close in May. Work is also being completed at the resort’s bus stop. A new bus stop is expected to open at some point in the future. Currently, buses drop guests off at the resort’s main entrance.
At this time, the entire resort refurbishment is expected to last through 2026. The current work is part of an ongoing refurbishment that dates back several years. For more resort refurbishments across the Walt Disney World Resort, see our guide below:
