Resort Room and Feature Pool Refurbishments Announced for Disney's Wilderness Lodge

Walt Disney World has announced new refurbishments for Disney’s Wilderness Lodge for both 2027 and 2028. First, the resort’s guest rooms will be refurbished between July 2027 and September 2027. Then, the Copper Creek Springs Pool will undergo refurbishment starting in January 2028. The feature pool refurbishment doesn’t have an expected end date yet, other than Spring 2028. Here is the official wording from the refurbishment notice.

As we continue to care for our facilities, refurbishment and maintenance work is planned at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. During your visit, please be aware of the following:

Now through late 2026: Exterior refurbishment will take place at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins.
July 2027 through September 2027: Guest rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will undergo refurbishment.
January 2028 through spring 2028: Copper Creek Springs Pool will undergo refurbishment.

Guests may experience obstructed views in some areas and may see or hear construction during daytime hours.

What to Expect From the Guest Room Refurbishment

The guest rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge received a major refurbishment several years ago, so the upcoming work is expected to be more of a soft goods refurbishment. This typically means smaller updates to things like furnishings, fabrics, and decorative elements rather than a complete redesign of the rooms.

If you haven’t seen the current room design, we have a photo collection featuring the guest rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. It offers a closer look at what the accommodations look like following their previous update.

Copper Creek Springs Pool Refurbishment

Copper Creek Springs Pool is the feature pool at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. This is the resort’s main pool area, complete with a waterslide and surrounding amenities. However, guests should know that Wilderness Lodge has a second pool option.

The Boulder Ridge Cove Pool is near Boulder Ridge Villas and offers an alternative for guests who want pool time while the feature pool is closed. If you’re unfamiliar with the resort’s pool options, we have a complete overview of the Wilderness Lodge’s pools with photos and details of both locations.

A Reminder About the Current Exterior Refurbishment

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is currently undergoing an exterior refurbishment. According to Disney’s current refurbishment notice, this work is expected to wrap up by late 2026.

We visited the resort this past summer and documented refurbishment progress in several areas. Our June 2026 Wilderness Lodge refurbishment update offers photos of which portions of the work had already been completed at the time of our visit.

Final Thoughts

As always, it’s good to see updates and needed work taking place around the resorts. But I think most will agree, the Wilderness Lodge has seen quite a few updates in recent years. We’ll keep following up on these projects and share updates as more details become available.

If you’re planning a stay at Wilderness Lodge during any of these periods, you’ll also want to keep an eye out for updates. Typically, a room refurbishment won’t significantly affect a stay, but the feature pool closure may require some guests to change resorts or travel dates.
