Closing Date Announced for the Boneyard Playground and Dig Site at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Disney has announced that The Boneyard, a playground and dig site attraction, will permanently close at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on September 2, 2025. The last day to experience the attraction will be on September 1st. This is the second wave of closings for Dinoland, U.S.A. this year. You may remember that the carnival area of the land permanently closed on January 13, 2025. At that time, we saw the last of TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Games.
As Dinoland U.S.A. becomes extinct, the area will be refreshed to a Tropical Americas-themed land. The new land will feature the first-ever Encanto-themed ride-through attraction, and an Indiana Jones-themed attraction will take over Dinosaur. A carousel featuring wood-carvings, a new play area, and one of the largest quick-service restaurants in all of Disney World will also be part of the Tropical Americas.
Speaking of Dinosaur, guests have at least through the end of 2025 to experience the attraction. An exact closing date has not been announced, but Disney has stated the ride would close for good sometime in 2026.
